Our basic values and principle

Today we live in a world where we have lots of competitors and deceivers. We learned our basic values, principles and ethics in childhood from our teachers and parents.
Our basic values and principle are
Do not lie.
Be honest.
Respect elders.
Be polite,
etc
but today we see people not following these things.
We start our day reading in news paper a big lie "use Xyz cream and become fair in one week". We see lots of ads on the internet mostly while clicking ads on PTC ads "earn 200$ in hour" and we get attracted to it and their task is done though we know it is possible, if it is possible then it would need to invest or it would be very hard to do.
Question is why should we lose our values, principle and ethics?
Is it today’s requirement to survive and we cant we successful with those old values? Why?

Our basic personal values can be tested I agree. It may come done to the bottom line. Which is better?
It is better to give than to receive. (worth testing)
Honesty is the best policy.
Interact with two companies whose values are totally different and test which one makes us more successful and how it affects us?
I think I'll go with the company that has value.

yes, honesty is best policy is one basic value we are learning from childhood but we do not follow this everywhere and I think it is not possible today and only people who has courage and strong heart can follow this kind of principle today.
we should always try to be a good person with good values and thinking because it makes us stronger an we can conquer problems in life.

The real values of human nature and points of order pertaining to noble living have turned much worse in the recent decades. The beginning and end of the day is no more the same as it used to be in olden days. It is earning or gaining access to finances which matter most to people around the world. Values and principles of good living have gone into dark and grim backgrounds.

This reminds me of a quote from Austen's Pride and Prejudice which goes on something like this - "there is I believe an evil tendency in each person which even the best education in the world can't overcome". Something like that I forgot the exact words. Not that I agree totally with it. Human nature is prone to evil quite naturally. Then it all boils down to how much we depend on God to fight evil.

yes, I agree and like your comment, if we consider white as good and black as bad then no one is white or black , we are grey and there are many shades of grey, some are more black and less white and some people are more white an less black.
sometime we need to use those shortcuts and tactics to earn more on the internet but I think today we need it and we cannot live on those old principles and values. I think this is a time where we should make a new list of values and principle.
