I am not a snake lover, but I like the way it moves.People often kill them,if they come in contact.I had 3 close encounters with snakes.A cobra, and two slimy, moist grey colored snake which fell on top me.My mother killed all those snakes.I know cobra is venomous, but I don't know about the other two. People beat these things to death, and its a very painful sight. They appear so defenseless. Some bad boys in snake world are listed below. They are the reason for 'innocent' snakes to be killed. I find these snakes, the more dangerous. They are not listed in any particular order. Anaconda:-Only snake that can kill and eat you. heaviest and the strongest, ambush predator. African Rock Python:-Longest snake(correct me,if I am wrong).Reported to kill and eat kids.Eats antelopes, goats etc. Black Mamba:-Ugliest,fastest on land, fiercest, highly venomous, second longest venomous snake. Taipan:-Most venomous, shy, aggressive when provoked, bites multiple times. Russell's Viper :- its my favorite because we share the same land :).Venom that melts tissues, anti venom can save you most time, but the tissue damage is irreversible. Which one is the most dangerous according to you?The king of snakes?

Hello garavegeta Where were you when the snakes fell on top of you? That must have been very scary for you and for your mother. In the USA we only have a few venomous snakes. I have seen all kinds of snakes when I was on the farm. I would destroy the venomous snakes, such as the Eastern Diamond Back Rattlesnake, but I would not harm the non-venomous snakes. I especially liked seeing that I had King Snakes, as they will eaat the venomous snakes. Peace

Haha,Pageturner...to tell you the truth.only one snake fall on top of me,others two were crawling on the floor and i was in my bedroom. These were two separate events. We were so scared,it was 11 pm,when that thing fell on my head. I have heard about rattle snakes, they got rattles, which they use for warning enemies. It is really one of the most dangerous snakes in USA.Certainly a contender for the top spot. But its very similar to Russell's viper (in appearance).Like Russell's viper its not on top of food chain.King Snake, eats them because its immune to rattler's venom.Vipers are eaten by King Kobra. But both Kings are not aggressive,so they are not in my list. But Rattler should have been there...my mistake sorry. You got King snakes?...is it legal to keep a snake?..here in India its illegal to keep snakes as pets.

We had a couple of snakes in the house once -- a water mocossin (venomous) and a King snake. They were in the house at the same time. It was very scary! It is legal to keep snakes as pets in the USA, but I'm not sure if this is so about all snakes or even venomous snakes. I think that a permit is required for some snakes.

Dear friend, Even though I not much known on snakes. I hope king cobra is most poisonous. In many countries in Asia it is seen they also worship snakes. Here in India in South part we have Kavu (a place snakes are worshiped and taken care). It is another great part in Hinduism. Snakes here are also considered as close to God or have those powers of God.

Dear Sham,I know about Kavu,I am a keralite:). I know about King Kobra,it is not the most dangerous snake.its very shy and normally donot attack human beings.its a great snake, its the longest venomous snake and it looks quite cute also:).But is not the most dangerous snake.Russell's viper, common cobra and Indian krait are more venomous than the King.So i don't think its the real king of snakes. It has huge venom sacks and injects more venom than any other snakes, but its docile.

We have rattlesnakes, copperheads and other poisonous snakes where we live. They hide and if you get bitten it's because you invaded their territory. I can't imagine living where there are such mean and dangerous snakes. I DON'T like snakes at all. yet, when I was a child I would pick up the harmless grass snakes and put them in my pockets.
