Demented laptop.

I've been having problems today with my laptop. It first started after I'd put it on standby. When I started it up again a short time later, it was running extremely slow. I tried several scans, rebooting and nothing helped. I defragmented, cleaned up the disks, but that still didn't help. Trying to delete cookies failed, as I discovered that a program called Do Not Track Plus does not allow you to remove cookies for some reason. I can't find the program on my laptop in order to remove it, I downloaded it, so why wouldn't it be there? This is very frustrating. I don't know what to do now. I need this system running better than it is.

Hi, kris i guess you need a fresh install of your OS. since you have already tried all the available options such as defrag, disk clean etc.. For uninstalling any software from your PC/laptop, trying using Revo uninstaller.

try Last Known Good Configuration if other suggestions not working or if you really cant find that application you just installed. and yeah, disabling startup items might help. sometimes when you download something, you get some extras and would start running as soon as you turn on your computer.

Do Not Track is only a browser extension and typically they don't come with uninstallers. To uninstall it go into your extension section of your browser whether it be firefox, chrome and so on. You can then remove it from there. As for your laptop being slow there could be various reasons. Could be either a hardware or software issue. Try disabling a few start up programs to see if that helps. Start Run type msconfig then go to the startup tab. Without the rest of your system spec/info though its difficult to help. Such as was there any other new software you installed prior to the last shutdown? Operating system?

The slowness can come from many reasons, maybe your system is just too old, and needs a fresh install, maybe just a program uses all the resources, so the system responds slowly. Check resource manager, if the computer is working on 100% or not. If it's a program, you decide if you need it or not (maybe just needs an update to work correctly). About the cookie removing, well I don't know that program, but it might be just an addon of the browser you use, so you should check it on the settings of the browser.
