What I Wish Would Change

I really love Mylot, they've helped me earn a nice amount of money since I've joined the site. But there is something I wish they would change (and other sites are doing this). I wish Mylot would start to allow people to post their own creative/fictional writing. I get a lot of help on personal problems here from all you great members, but I would really love to get that same help on my writing. It would help to get so many other eyes on my work to help me perfect it. Does anyone think this would/could ever happen?

I made a comment about the blog in the first box, because I thought it was allowed as long as it is your work. Of course I wouldn't share my work like that, I prefer to use writing sites where I have a little better protection against someone who might plagiarize my work.

That's a good point. I def. wouldn't share large chunks of my story, just any part I'm not happy with and maybe want some editting help. But yeah, I don't want to post my stuff on the blog either! Haha

It's good to be careful! And it is good that sites do time stamp when you posted them, because that would be a big help in any kind of "battle." I know how you feel because I was really worried about sharing the logo I came up with for my animal rescue. Not to sound conceited but I think it's a really good logo and I didn't want someone else to take it. Like you said, it's my baby!! Did I ever show you my logo? Haha

Still, a small part of your story can land in another's work. I mean, sure I shared my excerpt, and someone could use it, except for the fact I have shared this part for so long, that I have it in my MySpace blog, so anyone using it, I can prove it is mine by the date I posted it. I guess I am just too careful, maybe because this is my first "baby" and I am very protective of it.

Can't you post your writings in a blog here and ask for critiques? I for one, would lover to read your stuff here.

Yeah, that would be devastating but the solution is to take out copyright. No big deal there.

I never really did anything with the blog, I've never even seen it! But like carm above brought up, I risk getting my work stolen and/or plagarized if I share it in an unsecure location! I would hate for that to happen!

I know my dad has cpyrighted a couple of his stories, but I don't know how to do that. And I'm not sure my stories are quite finished and ready for that stage. A couple of them could go through at least 1 more round of editting.

I think that is a good idea! They could have a different section for that and people could write whatever they wanted for fictional writing and people can comment on it! I love writing stories.

It porbably wouldn't change from the way it is now. It would be nice if you could post part of your writings and put a link to the rest if people were interested but I think they might consider it spamming or something. I don't know I still haven't posted links to anything because I'm worried they might see it as spam :o

I would agree to BabyCheetah on this, she has a nice idea, you create your writing on a blog or a website then if you want your writings to be read by us then you can just post a part of your writing here then place a link so we can read. Correct me if I am mistaken but I think it doesn't violate any rules of mylot.
