old ads versus skinny women

yahoo featured that in the past advertisements were about women with curves. i almost could not believe that there was a time when money did not want to be left skinny but would want to add pounds so that they can have curves. there also was this picture of a man that called a skinny gal a beanpole. right now almost all women would want to be skinny because that is what the media is pushing as the idol image. your opinion guys?
