I want a Saint Bernard!

I am looking to get a Saint Bernard but my hubby says they are too big and drool all the time. I have heard they drool just as much as some other dogs do. Then I heard you can get drooless Saint Bernards and I have searched the internet and it says there are breeders for drooless Saint Bernards. Can you really breed a drooless St Bernard though? Anyone have experiences with Saint Bernards or know someone who has? Are they really good dogs to have?

I HIGHLY doubt that you can get drooless Saint Bernards, that kind of sounds phoney to me. BUT if you find a saint bernard mix they may drool less due to the other breed they are mixed with. I don't know where you're from but I really hope you consider adopting a dog (no matter what breed you get) from a rescue, and not buying it from a breeder. There's a wonderful website called Pet Finder, you can search for certain animals/breeds in your area. You put the info in at the left side of the page. http://www.petfinder.com/index.html Good luck! I hope you can convince your husband to get your dream dog! Just remember the breed you want is an active breed who needs at least moderate exercise, and they have long hair so they'll need a lot of grooming (daily brushing, weekly/bi-weekly bathing).

I'm glad your not upset at me for mentioning rescue! I know sometimes when people who are talking about getting a puppy from a breeder, they get mad if anyone tells them it's better to rescue. If you're anywhere near Glendale, Az there is an old Saint Bernard that the resuce is looking to find a "forever foster" for. They said they pay for all the dogs expenses, and you just take care of it in your home! I never heard of something like this before, but I wish I had room for a big dog! haha Good luck! Let us know what you find!

I will have to check into that place! I wouldn't mind taking a road trip to get a dog! I never thought about a rescue dog and i think it is an excellent idea. I always see those commercials with abused pets and think awww those poor animals need a good home!

We're like 2 peas in a pod! Haha I'm the same way! There is a cat at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah that I am just absolutely in love with, and if he's still available when I can get him, I'll drive the 6 hours to get him! Let us know what happens!!!

The Saint Bernard was my dream dog, since I was toddler. But I do have Golden Retriever, it drools like a Saint Bernard. My dog was so sweet, he often waited me from work and stays at the gate. I am not sure, but I read an article that we can suppress the drooling of dogs.

Whenever hear the word "St. Bernard" I remember the old movie about this dog and how I have wanted so much to have one. Now, I don't think I want it as much though. I would prefer small dogs because they are easier to maintain, plus I am more a cat person than a dog person so I would rather have cats. I didn't really know that they drool, but now that you mentioned it, I think I remember seeing one and they do drool. Oh, I don't know much about dog-breeding, so sorry, no help from me in that department. Anyway, I wish you luck on this.

I suggest Belgian Dogs. hehehe. I have a friend who breed Belgian Dogs. They also train them and let them work as K9 Dogs in Malls. If I am not mistaken, she make more than 10,000 pesos a month from "Twilight", her dog.
