Are you aware that Taxis in Davao City, Philippines now have ATM Card readers. You wouldn't have to make sure you have enough cash to pay to the driver. You wouldn't have to ask the driver to drop you off the bank or ATM. This is another convenience for everyone.

We have the same worries. How can they be sure that the amount billed is the same amount deducted on their ATM balances? I will be expecting some complaints regarding this one. There might be double charging against the ATM accounts.

For one thing, if you're a passenger that has no atm card what so ever, how can you pay the driver? Is the driver requiring the passenger of this taxi to only use their atm and no cash? because if it is, then it's not for every one's transportation. some advantages may not be able to get the market of other people out there.

hello Letranknight! You can bring cash too. It is up to you or the driver if he will ask you to pay in cash. Just an offtopic, Just earned my first quota. How long will be the process if I transfer it to Paypal?

Hello Danzylop This would certainly make things easier for those who don't habitually carry cash, or if one is short on cash but not on funds. Peace

Thats right. Here in the Philippines, hold-ap (robbery) is rampant so this would help also in a way for the drivers.

I am glad I do not have to worry about taking a taxi. This does sound like a really convenient approach to paying. I am aware that even some phones have card readers now.

That sound like a good addition for travellers who need taxis services from cab company in city, it make their life a bit easier, at least they don't have to worry about there is not enough cold cash in their pocket when stopping a cab in public street or from their call center, safe from the cussing of those cab drivers for lack of cash payment. It works for me since i am that type of person who has so much cash stash inside my bank ATM card and debit card, but like to carry little inside my pocket. I also hope the cab can begin to accpet my personal and company cheque too in the future as payment for my fare after this debit card payment program.

hi lampar! I dont know if company owners will consider accepting checks too. There might come out counterfeit checks, specially personal checks, there is a very hard guaranty.

yes, the Mabuhay Black taxi is starting to accept payment through atm or debit card. I've seen them roaming around the streets. I haven't tried this. I will surely try to board on these taxi next time. Are you living in Davao City too?

That's why I love Davao They try new things all the time and of course made sure that it is for the benefit of it's citizens. People my dislike the way they(local government) run the City, but us people of Davao believe in what the Mayor and vice Mayor are doing because, in their long years of service to us, they have always showed that their actions are for the benefit of every Davaowenyo(people of Davao). Happy myLotting

With all of my thumps in hands and feet are up for you. I agree. The Duterte's are doing a great job in running the city most especially because it is a very wide and big city. Crime in davao city is relatively lower compared to other cities.

The only time I have use taxis is when i am in Las Vegas for vacations. But using a card sounds a lot easier that dealing with cash. Like in Vegas you never know how much the fare is going to be. If traffic is bad then you pay a higher fare

If you often travel along roads with heavy traffic, better go there early to avoid too expensive taxi bills :)

That's a wonderful invention. The only problem is if the rider do not have ATM or debit card. But I like this because it does not just free us from "keep the change attitude" of taxi drivers but also the taxi drivers are not to worry about holduppers anymore. Nice one. I hope that will be implemented worldwide.

Hello Danzylop, that's good to know that some companies are really going into hitech stuff just to get paid by the customer. unfortunately, hi-tech TAXi's aren't gonna attract that much of a tourist since other countries have the same kind of taxis, but good for them though. i hope all taxi in the Philippines would have something like that in the future.

Just recently, Davao City Government prohibited the dilapidated taxi units on the road. Now, theyre into modernizing them. Even in Las Vegas, there is no same taxi there. So I believe, this is a new innovation.

I also thought of these one. I think the installation of this card readers should be dry ran first before going full utilization. If I am in Davao I would choose to bring cash. I am proud about the innovation but I doubt about the security of the card bearers.
