We were stranded in Vienna but a co- pinoy invited us in her house for the night

We just visited Vienna for a day. I was with two other Filipino ladies, two moms as I called them. They were my half blood (Australian and Filipino mix) colleague's relatives. Yeah, I call her half blood, a Muggle.:) I work and live more than two hours away by train from this city and last train leaves at 9:02 pm. I had to go to Vienna to visit a doctor and his clinic is located a little bit outside of the city, around 40 minutes by bus. My appointment was 6:30 pm but I got accommodated an hour later. I knew that I won't manage to go back to the main train station on time to catch the last trip so I called the moms to look for any subway station and hop in. That's the problem in Vienna, the main train station is not really in the center. For a first timer, it is really confusing especially for two almost retired Pinoy mamas who didn't understand any German. To cut the story short, we were stranded, so we ate at Mc Donalds outside of the main train station. At the cashier, I heard someone swearing in Filipino. Then I also knew immediately that the other lady assisting my guests was another Fiipina as well. So we automatically talked in Filipino. After eating she came to us and invited us to her place. It was only 6 hours remaining and the first train leaves so instead of going to a nearby pension house, we went with her. :)

Yeah, she was so nice. Very street smart lady. I thought I was speaking with someone from Pasay with her strong edgy tone. I will remain in contact with her and would see each other when time permits it. God would pour great blessings to her more!:)

I like how you call you colleagues "half blood", but aren't half bloods called "mud bloods" and "muggles" are pure human? haha. Anyway, Kudos for Harry Potter reference. Situations like this just shows how hospitable Filipinos really are. Inviting strangers to their homes. It must be a real bummer being stranded in a place for hours, but if you look at the bright side, you get to meet new people. :)

Mud bloods, really? I forgot my Harry Potter history already.hahaha. Pinoys are really very hospitable, even more when they are outside the Philippines. When I was younger and had to come to Europe with a group, we were also entertained by kababayans very well. We were fed and fed and fed and fed again. Filipino get together means food, right? Anyone who had a car would fit us in like sardines to roam around the city. I have heard of some Filipinos who would look down on co-pinoys. For me, whenever I realize that one is a kababayan, then I would always greet him or her. I would also see tourists just traveling here and I would try to get their attention just the same. I think, no matter which nationality one has and would be living in a foreign country then seeing a familiar face, language and culture means home.
