Virtual machine is a one type of emulator which provides a virtual interface to the real hardware with CPU self- virtualization. It provides all the services which are provided by a real computer. while Emulator simulates virtual machines in complete hardware to software. The main difference between them is, In emulation the whole operating environment is simulated in software, while in virtual machine, only some portion of the work is directly passed to CPU. In virtual machine, all the operations are performed on real hardware to increase its efficiency because of this reason virtual machine is faster than emulation.
