I am sure many of you grew up to the Anime Sailormoon, Girls like it because its like one of the first anime that popularizes the magical girl genre and its like one the first all female superhero group. Guys like it because they see legs and panties..... we cant deny Next to Dragonball Z, Sailormoon is one of the most iconic anime ever. we can say its kinda responsible why the Japanese schoolgirl uniform is iconic in Japan. Naoko Takeuchi decided to make a new Sailormoon anime series that will air this 2013. She said this new Sailormoon Anime wont be a continuation of the 90's series. It will be a reboot and a loyal adaptation of Manga. Which means this new anime will be less girly and more dark, As in it may have Dragonball Z level of violence. The 90's version is said to be too kid friendly, This new version will be geared to teenagers and adults. The manga version of sailormoon is said to be darker and more violent and it is the direction this new version will follow. --- I kinda remember in the 90's anime, Sailormoon cured her villains the Black moon Clan sisters into regular women so they can redeem them selves and live a happy normal life, she gave the sisters redemption and they became a happy family. In the Manga version.... she killed them all. This 2013 version may head to that direction. Kids of the 90's...... are you ready for the bloodier, manlier and darker Sailormoon. This new version seemed to be geared more to boys.

Dark, you say? That definitely makes a contrast to the old sailor moon anime which technically launched the shojo brand of anime. But I guess this will be a interesting take since I do cringe at the sappy romantic moments in sailormoon when I was watching it as a child. Of course, I kinda like the romance but it was still kinda too much for my taste when I was watching it. The only series that I liked was the last one, the sailor Stars because Usagi was matured on that series compared to the old Usagi. I know that it was the result of the previous series but it was repetitive for Usagi to fall I love with the same for a long period of time (which is relative because it was anime and manga). I’ll check it out when I have the time but I hope not too much. The old sailormoon does have its charm ofr the forever romantic.

I guess they want to go dark, so boys will want this for the story or darkness and not for the pantyshots. They want to go dark to see more boys watching it, I think it may get more violent than the norm.

@Hanyouyomi I was shocked that Chibiusa is very incestuous on this version. She wanted to do the sexy stuff with her dad.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Seriously? Do you have any idea how many guys watched and loved the original Sailor-Moon anime? Thousands, and I'm one of them. The original Sailor-Moon is my second most favorite anime of all time. So when this reboot was announced, I was excited as all Hell! And as much as I'm enjoying it, I admittedly do have a few qualms. All of which I expressed here:
Just a question from a concerned Sailor-Moon fan.

I can't I'm excited but I think I'm going to like this new version, if it ever does get released, better than the previous one. As a kid I would watch any cartoon for no reason at all, and sailormoon just happens to be one of the cartoons aired those time. I don't really remember much, though only that they had colorful hair and the school uniform outfit. Now, i miss watching Looney tunes and this topic just made me think of it. I wonder when they are going to make new looney tunes featuring Bugs Bunny and the rest of the gang. Abadi-abadi-abadi That's all folks!

I hope they go for the more violent and darker direction as most anime nowadays are about being cute.

I read about this yesterday it's like their 20th anniversary or something. I never got to finish the old anime though and never read the manga so I never knew she killed them as you said.

In the anime she converted those villains into good girls, in the manga she killed them. I guess for Tv they want her to be a compassionate one. not a blood thirsty one. The sisters i think appeared on the 3rd season.

I think the new version will fit with your grown up taste because it will be grittier and more violent compared from the kiddie friendly version.
