I need to get some Metamucil

I love my Metamucil… I don’t love taking it.. but I love how my digestive system works better when I take it. For the last couple of months I had to take stool softeners due to the medicines I take. I don’t like how it does me. I increase my fiber and I do better… and I think the fiber from Metamucil is even better for clearing the colon. Do you take anything on a regular basis? What is it and for what reason do you take it? My daughter has IBS but not with diarrhea.. she has the chronic constipation. Once she went 28 days without going to the restroom. I had to take her to the ER because she was bent over in pain… they took x-rays and were shocked. They gave her 2 bombs (citrate of magnesia) right there in the ER. They said if that didn’t make her go she would have to have surgery. Her doc has her on lactulose 30 cc every day now and that keeps her from having issues like that. Have you ever had issues like that? Please share.

I've never had issues like that. Metamucil is quite expensive when you consider that wheatgerm does the same thing and is a fraction of the price.

Yes I have issues. When I was a kid I was like your daughter I would go maybe once a week if you were lucky. I had kids and if I didn't go everyday and or eat too much I'd be puking, burping up rotten eggs, and having diarrhea. Good times! So what has helped me is watching more what I eat, drinking alot of water, taking a vitamin D suppliment, and adding flax seed meal to my food (very good for Fiber and Omega3's) is what keeps me going so I don't get sick. I too found out why I was getting sick once or twice a week via x-ray I too was backed up and dehydrated. You can't imagine how much that sucked to get sick from both ends 2x a week for a month or two.

I had a friend whose mother used to ask him every day if he had had a bowel movement. He got tired of the question and made up his mind to not have one for as long as he could. I forget how long he went without, a week or two, but couldn't help thinking he was only hurting himself. I was taking Benefibre but with the abundance of fresh berries from my garden, I've stopped for the time being. It's a lot easier to take because it doesn't clump up immediately, only in your stomach. You can even put it in your coffee or tea, it doesn't change the taste or texture.
