I was watching documentary film about what was the earth in the past and so and so and I'm really interested what becomes when lava and water mixed? Is it just simply kind of a rock?

I think it would manipulate the lava and water to create different things depending on the temperatures and cosnsistency of each, by this I mean that lava does not always have the same melted down solids in it, and water can be a solouton with many other things in it such as salt. The two main things that would be generated from lava and water mixing are solids and gasses. This could make islands or even underwater landscapes that are quite magnificent. :)

Hi dobsyto, I'm no expert on lava but I believe lava is just molten rock i.e. rock which have melted below the surface of the earth due to extremely high temperature and pressure which usually takes place in volcanoes. When the lava erupts and flows from the volcano to the sea it will be cooled suddenly and solidify and turns back into igneous rock. Lava flows are extremely dangerous and will ignite and destroy everything in their path. You have to watch some of the documentaries in order to appreciate this awesome destructive force.
