Another Bloody Side Effect!!!

Okay, so here I am sweating a gallon or more per day and worrying about my blood pressure, right? I was unable to get in to see my doctor so I got an appointment at a walk-in clinic. Then I started thinking...what if it's my medications again? I mean, the last time I had some bad symptoms it turned out to be a side effect of the Luvox I was on. So I looked up the Imipramine I've been on for the past year. Here's the list of side-effects: Dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; excitement; headache; impotence; nausea; nightmares; pupil dilation; sensitivity to sunlight; sweating; tiredness; upset stomach; vomiting; weakness; weight loss or gain. I mean, I knew the dry mouth was from these pills but when I mentioned the sweats to my doctor he said NOTHING! This is the second time I have had to look up for myself the side effects of a medication my doctor had me on because he failed to recognize the side effects that were being manifest in me. These pills were for the pain I suffer each day but if they're going to make me sweat like this, I would rather deal with the pain. Once again we learn that we must research every little pill our doctors try to give us. They are not there to make us well, but to keep our money in the pharmaceutical companies' pockets!

What if you told your doctor you would like to take HALF of the pill? Would that work for you? Doctors seems to think everything is in our heads. Well, it's not. I was on a couple different blood pressure medications, plus cholesterol medicine and diuretic pill. I was sick all the time. It wasn't me, it was the pills, plus the diuretic took all my potassium and I ended up twice in the ER because of this. Right now, I stopped all medications and my blood pressure is normal (I have a blood pressure machine at home). I did this on my own because I was sick of not breathing correctly. The BP's made me wheeze and I couldn't walk for long distances. Now I'm doing everything. You just never know whats in those pills anymore. Yes, research your pills for sure.

I don't want to take any pills if I don't have to. Tonight will be my second night without the Imipramine. I'm still sweating but not as much as I was. It'll take about a week for the stuff to be completely out of my system. In the meantime I will manage the pain with OTC stuff and hope the sweats stop soon. Sweating like this also drains my body of potassium and all the other electrolytes that it needs. I have been supplementing with EmergenC but that only goes so far.

Just be careful with the potassium supplements. The side effects can go either way. If you have too low potassium it will mess up your system and if you have too high, it will do the same....gotta stay right in the middle.

Well, I don't think EmergenC has enough potassium to hurt. I am always careful. My mother overdosed on calcium once and landed in the hospital so I am always careful. My doctor had me on prescription potassium supplements for many years and I just stopped taking them for no reason other than that I ran out of refills and forgot to ask for more. My body loses potassium and vitamin D faster than my diet can replace them so I take supplements OTC. Finding a decent doctor here in Pendleton is proving to be a daunting task, I must say. No wonder a lot of my friends here drive all the way to the Tri-Cities for their medical care!

honestly, some of the side effects are worse than the condition that you are taking the medication for. i remember when i started taking Daxas (its a COPD med which helps get rid of the phlegm in your throat and lungs) it gave me constant diarrhea which was horrible but then it got better. hope you get some answers soon!

Yes, you are right! When I was on the Luvox, I was bruising spontaneously and in constant pain in my legs...and when I complained, the doctor actually increased my dosage! Just a few months into taking the Imipramine, I complained to my doctor about the sweats and he said nothing, just left me taking it. I don't know why it took me so long to connect my sweats to the imipramine but I'm glad I did. Now, here's hoping that I can get back the life I used to have before this sweating became so far out of control!

whenever you feel low blood pressure you can take one glass water with one spoon salt or take one boiled egg you will be okey within few minutes. And when you feel high blood pressure and headache or feel that your veins more pressurized and going to blast so you again take one glass water and go to walk at least 1 km or more, you will feel much better but avoid eating minerals, salty or spicy thing at that time or in your routine food items because such items increase blood pressure therefore you should take low mineral, salts or spices. if you feel very uncomfortable and still not feel good so you can visit doctor immediately or call to doctor for further consultation. i have suggested you general and with no side effects formulas otherwise you can take any medicine prescribed by your doctor(s) definitely.
