Thin base or thick base? After all these years, only now I know the answer

Hello there y'all! I just came back from a lovely pizza night with my parents. We go out every Sunday evening to indulge in pizza... oh baby, hot pizza on a cold night in a warm car with warm music, is bliss. However, up until the last time, I always ordered the thin base. It was just kind of a general thing, since a thick base obviously equals more dough, which equals more starch, which equals more saturated fats and cancer and damage of the internal organs and destruction of glucose levels, to name but a few. So, it was a no-brainer that I always ordered us the thin base. But then, tonight, for some reason when the till operator asked thick or thin base, I said thick. Give it to me thick baby! That seemed to be one of the best choices of the night! Thick base is so delicious!!! It had a crunchy thin outer layer, with warm soft breadishness on the inside, and the meats on top, oh baby, I ordered just the right kind of pizza tonight. I can't even remember what it was called, but one had rib and a delicious sauce on it, and the other had chicken mince and pineapple, with a taste of divinity right inside every bite. And it was sooooooo, sooooooo good!!! From now on, I shall be ordering the thick base every time. Isn't it unhealthy you say? Yes, but one doesn't eat pizza to be healthy. It's a trade off: absolute pleasure for a portion of your life. Sounds fair. I guess. So, I'm going to enjoy the thick crust base from now on, as I have only now, at this late stage of my life in terms of discovering pizza, discovered thick base pizza is more delicious than thin base. I thank you for sharing in my delight.

you are right. one does not eat pizza to be healthy. for me personally i prefer thin base/dough because it makes the topping tastier. but now and then, i buy the thick one, especially when i'm hungry. the soft thick dough can replace bread for lunch or dinner. i think it is not the matter of which one is better. it is just because you are used to thin crust so much you got bored eating it, and that is why your tastebud think thick crust which you rarely eat taste better. anyway it is good you realize how good thick crust pizza can be. it is good to be living.

Yeah baby! I'm living large now! Large pizza crusts. Mmmmmmmmm-mmmmmmmmmm!!!! You think it's not all that great, and that it's just the newness of a thick crust that bowled me over? Mmmmmmm... interesting theory. I'll monitor it some more times and then try thin base again just to see if thin base gives me the same high as the thick did this time. But what if it doesn't? Then I will have wasted one pizza night, and ruined it all for a trade down. I'm coming after you if this experiment of yours fails.

i'm good with that. i am used to failed experiment. tell me when you test it. i am also curious of the outcome. because people have always say which one they like, but i never know anyone that is willing to do a test just to find out which crust is better. even if the test failed, i can go tell people that someone tested it. Way to go, Lorden!

I like both actually, depending on the filling and the dough. The thing is both are delicious and in summer I prefer the thin base it seems lighter and cools quicker in winter I prefer the thick base as it seems more filling and the toping can be more complicated. This will always depend on a persons taste buds. Well, I'm glad you enjoyed new food experience.

Yes, that's one thing I didn't mention - it felt so much more filling. I always felt hungry again whenever we drive away from having just eaten thin base pizza. But this tick base time, I felt a lot more filled until much later that evening. Thick base is a hunger buster baby! I know how we can stop world hunger now: Simply make them thick pizzzas.

So you have thin base in your country too? I thought it was an American thing. I am the opposite having never seen or tasted thin base pizza. I remember "Mad" magazine describing it as "Icky Sticky Guk" and I don't think that I would want it. A good thick bread base that you can pick up and hold easily is surely much better.
