What is the difference between manual surfing and autosurf in traffic exchange?

Whether promoting your own website or blog, or a product, or you are registered to a paid to promote site, i cannot blame people why others to participate in this king of exchange, nevertheless i was just wondering whats the difference between the two. Because i myself would prefer the autosurf but many others still in manual surfing.

In Autosurf no one see our link or site it just increases the page views of our site
whereas in manual surf the person views our site which can get us some referrals if lucky
people use both those who are looking for just increase in page views try autosurf and those for referrals try manual surf.
