One of the biggest difference between these two dog breeds is the size. Akita's grow larger than Shiba Inu, male Akita's can grow to be over 100 pounds, while male Shiba Inu's only grow to weigh about 25 pounds. And as in the case with most breeds, because Shiba Inu's are smaller they have a slighlty longer expected life span. They live to be around 12-15 years while an Akita's average life span is 10 years. A trait they share is they both have a lot of hair and would require daily brushing. And because of their hair they would also need a lot of grooming (whether you would want to bathe/clip them yourself or take them to a Pro Groomer). And yes, they are both very cute!!!!

I am not really sure either. I know a little about the Akita but nothing about the shiba inu.
