I selected a wrong interest for my discussion

Hello Mylotters. I wanted some advise on what is to be done when you start a discussion under an interest you did not want to. I have done exactly same. I am afraid writing the same discussion under the right interest may get deleted because of the same content being used twice. Is there anything I can do? I am not getting the appropriate replies the discussion topic deserved.

Well don't worry it won't be deleted but next time be more careful on what genre or type of discussion you are making. :)

also if you're unsure of what type of genre or discussion type it is leave it blank. if you're too unsure of it.

If by 'blank' you mean not posting it in any interest at all, that is not really a useful idea as very few people would see it, unless it was an extremely popular topic and appeared in other lists.

What I am not liking is that the discussion is not getting enough responses. Had I tagged it under the right section I am sure that burning topic would have had got attention it deserves. Will starting the same discussion again under the right genre help? Or will it get deleted, the new one?

At the bottom of the topic there is the (!) ICON. You can use that to ask admin to remove your dicsussion, explaining your reasons and he might remove it for you. Bear in mind though that everyone, including yourself, who has particpated in it, will lose their earnings if it is removed. You are correct not to re-post it (unless the first one is deleted) because it would indeed be removed as a duplicate topic.

I hope my explanation will be clear to you. There is no such thing as a 'wrong' interest. We can post any topic at all under any interest at all (all of the interesta are created by users and not by myLot) but, as you have realised, if we post it in some less popular interest or in one which is not quite pertaining to the topic, then it will not receive much activity. I have seen the topic that you are referring too and if I were youthen I would indeed ask for it to be removed. Then I would repost it after it was deleted, in the more correct interest. Before requesting for its deletion though, I would send a friend request to those who have responded and then, when you repost the new one, you will be able to inform them of the reason for the deletion and give them the link to the new topic, so that they can respond again and make up for their loss.

Yes Diana. It is pretty much clear to me. I am opting not to remove it. I hope it will spread by the virtue of its heat. If not I will keep it as my lesson. But I will make sure I do not commit same mistake again. Also I know the importance of putting a topic under a appropriate category/interest. To get better responses on your discussion, you need to bring it in front of those who have a fair idea of the topic.

What do you advise? Should I remove it and get a new one? Because it was a burning topic, I think I will be late if I do so? Is there any issue if we post a discussion of some topic under some other interests.? Does it affects our rankings, earnings?

If that discussion not have any respond yet, do what MysD told you to do. Don't start same topic before unwanted discussion got deleted. But if that discussion already had responder, just leave it that way. If you ask admin to delete it and get approval, not just you who gonna hurt (loss some money) but your responder got same treatment. It gonna reduce your popularity fast ... Happy lotters Note: I do have exactly same experience like you in the past

I don't think it is fair to your comrades even if they are few to delete it. I think it is better to start over but since you can duplicate try a completely different approach. Yes it means more writing and thinking about your topic but that can benefit you as well as what you are trying to achieve which is more interaction. Remember it is never a contest to see who gets the most responses. Is it? If it is I guess I loose because a lot my discussions have a low number of replies.

We live and learn and it's okay to learn through experience on mylot. In the future, don't post the same discussion twice, under two different interest categories. With time and experience you'll learn which interests you want to use so you'll experience fewer of those types of mistakes. Unfortunately, we're unable to delete, edit or modify our discussions after they post. Good luck!

We cannot delete or edit our own posts but we can use the (!) and ask admin to remove them.
