This is gonna be our activity as a group tomorrow. My group in Church, I mean. One of our members' granma will be celebrating her 86th birthday and we are gonna serenade her! This is my first time to do this. And I am excited about it. We're gonna sing to her "Annie's Song". Am not really familiar with the song. In fact, I have yet to learn how to sing it and I still have to memorize the lines. Hope it'll be easy as a pie. I also experienced being serenaded a few times in the past. It's cute. Or rather romantic? Am not sure how I felt but maybe it depends who is serenading you. If it's your crush, I think you'll really appreciate it but if not, you won't feel any excitement whatsoever. Share your experience. Am wondering if guys had anyone serenaded them?

Yes, I've been serenaded by a choir once during my college years. It was a Valentine's Day. I was walking in the corridors when suddenly, my classmates pulled me back to our classroom and let me sat in the front row. A choir was already standing in front of me and they started singing a love song. As soon as my classmates realized what the song was, they started swooning. The choir was really amazing! Some students from other classes came over to see what was causing all the commotion. I was bright red and didn't know how to behave. I was very shocked. Up to this day, I have never confirmed who hired the choir to serenade me. But I have a strong feeling that this kind-hearted soul did it not because of love or admiration, but simply to make me happy. I think being serenaded is really romantic. I don't ever want this tradition of ours to fade. Wow, you must really be popular with the guys sharkskfin! I think that no matter who the person is, whether I like him or not, I would feel very embarrassed and flattered at the same time.

That's so wonderful, CheerfulNuts. That's such an experience. The guy or whoever that was didn't intend to just flatter or impress you. They simply want to make your day. And it's something. :) I would feel very special if I were in your shoes. But, of course, it will keep me thinking whoever thought of doing that for me. Why did you say I must be really popular with guys, CheerfulNuts?

I had the rare experience of having my favorite song being played in the background when my would be boyfriend was starting to befriend me over the phone. I believed he asked a friend who plays the keyboard and knew the song "Just The Way You Are" by Billy Joel. I cannot help but laugh because he kept asking "Can you hear that? "many times. Eventually he became my boyfriend. Though that happened more than 20 years ago and we no longer keep in touch, I still cannot help but smile each time I hear that song. Besides, it is still one of my all time favorites.

hello, when I was around grade 4, I had the wonderful experience of visiting my grandma's province where Philippine serenade or " harana" was still being practiced. That was a long time ago, long before sound systems, karaokes and videokes were around, some of the houses did not even have electricity yet. The older single men age 18 up brought me along to serenade girls they were courting and the young lass would listen and open the window if she's interested, I was allowed to go with them cause I'm a visitor from Manila, it was such a wonderful experience, something that you would now see only in black and white Tagalog movies. We in the family all love to be sang to especially in some restaurants, we request songs and give them tips afterwards. Annie's Song is a nice song by the late "country boy" John Denver and it's one of my favorites

I've never serenaded anyone in acapella fashion outside of when I waited tables at an Italian restaurant in College. We had to sing "Happy Birthday" a lot. I do, however, play acoustic guitar and may or may not have attempted to impress a girl or two. ;). It can be fun if you have fun with it. A lot of people get nervous performing or singing but if you can get past that, it is enjoyable. Good luck!

I experience when someone sing a song for me in public and the experience is somewhat romantic. But that was long ago. Well, today I have several friends who are in this field so singing a song for me is just an ordinary thing. Though I still thought they are sweet, yet I don't let them know about it. I pretend that things like this is a common thing.
