Is a lizard so frightening...

I am posting this with a very funny mood. Yesterday night I was half asleep and with by back facing up when something suddenly got dropped on my back. After a second of thought I realized that it could be a lizard. I instantly woke up and got my light bulb switched on. By that time that lizard transferred herself upon my mom's right arm. But not before it quietly left us. I do not know how did it come. Now it was not an as big issue as it would have been if she would seen it with her eyes. My God I cannot even imagine what would have happened. Are lizards so frightening?

Lizards are not frightening but beliefs about their falling on different parts of our body that is prevalent in India is frightening. Do not worry. Visit your favourite temple and pray to God that good things should happen.

Oh really? Sir I did not know that. I am very much unaware of beliefs in Hindu mythology. Though I got a response same as yours from one of my friend when I narrated this to him, I did not pay much attention to his words thinking that he must be pulling my leg. But anyways I do not pay much attentions to myth, though listening to them is sometimes really very interesting.

I don't think falling of lizards on different part of our body is frightening in India . If it would be like this than many such people make lizard fall on their body parts on which falling of lizards give them a good news.

Gautam, you cannot say anything about beliefs in India. It is sometimes totally away from the topic that exactly is concerning us. They do not have any scientific connection. Although sometimes occasionally they might come true, but that it pure co-incidence. Being a science student we should try to put as less focus as we can on these. Though it is really interesting to know these at times.

I don't necessarily think lizards are frightening if we are awake and we can keep them from crawling on us. When we are sleeping we don't usually want unfamiliar creatures to invade our space.

Oh yes. But I have found, mainly girls and sometimes boys too getting frightened as if they have seen a crocodile. And yes crawling of a creature like that would certainly be of some inconvenience. Adding to all that was the night time.

Lizards may be frightening but they are harmless. I am not afraid of lizards or coackroaches. I am afraid of rats which eat your toe when you are asleep. I am also afraid of small snakes though they are harmless.

Yes what you are saying is absolutely correct but I feel that is justified on a scientific ground. Seeing lizards on the wall may be very common to all of us but the very idea of it falling on us without any prior notice in the dark night may not be liked by us. But then it happened, didn't harm me at all, neither did it worry my mother. I felt nice sharing this incidence with you all.

If I see lizards in our house, it's just fine. I can just ignore them but I don't want them to drop on me. I don't know why lizards reside in house, they should be in the forest. But all creatures here on earth have purpose why they exist. I don't understand it but we must accept that lizards have the right to live too. It's a good thing you didn't accidentally kill it. I'm not a lizard lover, I'm just a fair person. They are I think good creatures that do not cause any harm.

You are very much direct and sweet in your view. I felt it quite funny to read your point of them living in jungles. Though you are very much correct and valid. And I do not like killing any of the animals considering that we are expected to be kind. But I liked your views overall feeling it a bit different from others.

no they are not. they are harmless little creature. i used to play it but with a gentle touch and hold it delicately because i am afraid i might hurt it. i just like to hold it and rub its back. after doing that, when can sense that the lizard is already tired and so scared, i began to free it, let it stick to the wall so that it can crawl at the ceiling away from the people. you should try holding it -haha- maybe you will like it.

That is very brave of you that you like to play with creatures with whom most people are afraid. Infact I find ladies and girls more sensitive to it. Liked to come to know that you play and also keep in mind that you need not hurt them. Veyr brave and very kind of you I must say.

i am not brave. i just do not find any reason why being scared of that fragile creature. it can do no harm because of its size and of its nature that will eat insects (well, i am not an insect -haha)or unless you are :D. what i am being scared of is this gecko. i do not life its appearance, it is loathsome to say.

House lizards per se are not scary, but it sure heck is scary to have something just dropping on you without any warning. I also do not relish the idea of having a crawler anywhere near me, much less on me. I don't know, they better be not dropping on me. I mean, if I see lizards in my house, I let them be, so they should also let me be. :)

Of course yes even a mere ant can frighten you by dropping on you at night in silence. Watching lizards at normal time is a quite common scene. But even in that if sometimes it approaches you makes you feel like running off, atleast to some girls I have met.

I love lizards, they don't bother me; but of course if one crawled on me while i wasn't aware of what was happening i would honestly freak out. So it depends on if you expected the lizard or if it is something that someone tried to put on you.

It was not like someone had intentionally put it on me. I think she suddenly lost her grip while she was there enjoying her crawl on ceiling. She was harmless considering her size and species. But even a sudden appearance of a human in the dark night can at times make you freak out, so I do not feel ashamed accepting that it was a lizard.
