With the improvement of telecommunication technology and advent of Internet, a new dimension is added to mass communication and journalism. Taking the world by storm, such new media, known as Social Media, has already gained popularity. Though Media experts are still debating about pros and cons of social media, no doubt, social media has provided an open space to all to express one's mind. Facebook, twitter, Youtube, blogs and in general, internet have opened pool of information to common people. It is true that people no longer depend upon a single source for information. It does mean that Print and electronic media have lost relevance. Only thing is that social media or digital media has added a new dimension to traditional media set up. In social media, a two way communication between the information provider and receiver is possible, making it more participatory in nature. In the end, it is observed that with growing influence of social sites, process of news preparation and presentation have been mutated beyond imagination.

Social media has become one of the best way to let media know what you think and what you feel at a certain issue. Nowadays, reporters uses also these social media as a source of their reprots. It has been uses as a reference material. Maybe because there are many users of these social media, they can easily connect to other people even they did not know them.
