i am just busy with online things that i suddenly start to have hiccups. all i remember is just drinking a cup of hot coffee, black coffee. so i don't know if that is the reason for my hiccup right now. i just hope it would go away fast. it has been more than 5 minutes. and i still am having hiccups. although it is bearable but sometimes it is quite annoying when every 5 to ten seconds that you would have this hiccups.

Hi, some are short lasting and some long lasting, there might be so many reasons too, some still unknown. If the attention of the person is diverted by say a sudden jerk on the neck helps, eating sugar or dry molasses without sugar helps, i had hiccups non-stop , for days, reasons could not be known, but licking a mixture of honey with ash of burnt peacock feather helped me.

Hiccups are because of the air spaces in the stomach. What you do is to hold your breath and look up for a few seconds until you don't feel that you are going to have another hiccup. Some says that taking water can reduce that but I think it does not work that much. What I did is the first one.

hotsummer its funny you post this,,,I met a friend of my sisters when I was on vacation and he told me he had the hiccups for 2 weeks and he thought he probably would have to be hospitalized.. I was shocked...He said it was not the first time it has happened. he said he had "intractable hiccups" which is sometimes caused by exhaustion and/or lack of sleep...of which he suffered both he said. but try these old remedies..Holding your breath and counting slowly to 10. Breathing in paper bag, Quickly drinking a glass of cold water and Eating a teaspoon of sugar or honey. hope something works and they are gone soon... I had never heard of hiccups lasting so long..

Hi Hotsummer As we all well know, hiccuping is a common thing which can be easily rid of. Frequent or incessant hiccuping can, however, be caused by some underlying conditition which should be examined just to be on the safe side. I don't think this is your case, though.
