Hi guys, This is a sad story. A lot of people here in my school don't really pick up after themselves. When they finished eating in the cafeteria, they just leave their trash. Our school has a policy of throwing your trash properly but no one really follows it. Because of this, janitors have a hard time cleaning the cafeteria. Have you experienced this before?

We didn't really have this problem at my school. Not because we were really tidy but because there was a member of the school staff on duty making sure people followed the rules.Though there was always the odd few that disobeyed the rules but this was always a small minority. Most people threw their rubbish away and put their plates and cutlery to be washed. Our school was quite strict with what you did with this stuff, there was a bin for packaging a bin for food waste,a seperate place to put your knife your fork and spoon a container to put your plate in and a place to stack your plate.

Yes, even a single candy wrapper when disposed improperly, it will cause alot in the environment. Imagine, candy wrapper X million people= million littered candy wrapper.

Unfortunately, it happens everywhere. Even during my school days people used to be like that. I remember even I have behaved that way a couple of times, by being influenced by my schoolmates. I know that is not a good behaviour. However, I am proud to say that I am no more like that. Also, in my office, people follow a better mannerism and every one of us will naturally get that responsibility!

If you are a student from that school. Show them what to do. You could also suggest in the legislative body to pass an ordinance prohibiting the throwing of garbage anywhere and incorporating therein the corresponding punishment for non-compliance. Being a student or employee of that particular school gives you the obligation to decide for things that would benefit the entire population of the school. If they can not take action on that matter, you should.

They say clean as you go is a must in every public place. But it is seldom implemented. Some people are not so concern about the consequences of these actions. I wish we have that initiative to help our environment, even the simplest thing can make a difference. Lets begin it among ourselves, please. Thanks

Aarrgh! That's so disgusting! You can really tell the manner of upbringing these people have: if they're clean as they go, or as trashy as their trash. :)

yes this problem is everywhere in the world. people don't care to pick up there trash and some even throw trash around them. I hate to see trash around and I never throw it in public place. If I am in Public place and I have some plastic or paper to get rid of and i can't find a bin, I keep it with myself until i come home and then I put it in the garbage bin. If Fiji we have a rule and if someone throws rubbish, and is seen bye the police, they will be fined on the spot. I think it is a good idea to keep a place clean. On the contrary, in India it's the other way round. No body cares. its rubbish everywhere and I don't like it. I was telling my husband to get a contract from Goa government and let's clean Goa. It is a tourist destination and has to be kept clean all the time.
