Visual Kei...Is It Art Or For More Attention?

If you are not aware there is a fashion going around called Visual Kei. It is where men and women dress in very...eccentric clothes and makeup and dress up like you would see in the late 70's early 80's which is primarily where the fashion came from. Well one of my friends said that they don't like "okama" I did not know what it meant and looked it up and it showed from what I looked up that it is someone that practices homosexual or gay acts. So we had a pretty long opinionated talk and I was just wondering..does anybody think that guys who wear make-up are gay? Mostly Visual Kei fashion is used in music to express art or at least it used to be in the late 90's and early 2000's. My brother also has said that he thinks that in his words "it's just a ploy to get more groupies". Do you feel that way? If you do not know what someone dressing up Visual Kei is then look at my profile picture...that is a guy in Visual Kei fashion. Can't wait to hear from you guys! Thanks. :)
