I am doing MBA, Which specialization I must opt? Yes I am an information Technology graduate and working as an IT officer in a Government bank. I decided to go for MBA in distance mode from SMU and cleared two semesters. Now I need to select any specialization and I got confused as I must go for MBA in IT or in Banking. People suggested me that it is good to go for MBA in banking as it will enhance my domain knowledge also and would be fruitful further. Earlier I decided to go for MBA in IT and now I am very confused. Please suggest me better.

If you want to have great career in banking then you should take MBA in banking. If you want to build your career in IT, then take the MBA in IT. That is simple, which one you like your career want to grow then you should have expert knowledge in it.

Thanks for your response. In my view even in IT the domain experience is very important and if i have the domain experience of banking then it would be an added advantage.

I would suggest you to go for the banking option because since you are working in a bank there is a very high chance that you will grow in this field and get promotions. Otherwise, see what you like better. but I suggest banking to you. have a good day.

I suggest you take the MBA majoring in Management Information System (MIS). MIS is a continuation of IT. You will become expert in managing information in a company. As you know, success or failure of a company, is dependent upon the accuracy and speed of decision making. All this can happen if a company has a reliable MIS. MIS is useful for banks, as well as other companies. Imagine if you no longer work in banking. Does your MBA Banking is still useful?
