effect of parents love affairs

I attended a motivational talk today where the speaker emphasized on the current effect on the participants' parents' temperaments when they were in their mothers wombs. I could not believe it!...how could a quarrel between my mom and my dad a long time ago affect me today let alone a row between the two when my mom was barely three months pregnant with me when they quarreled?
