Birthday Meal Traditions..

So my birthday is coming up, I don't get nearly as excited about it now as a I get older though. Anyway, I do like to go out to eat for my birthday. Usually I like to try out new places for my birthday but I'm having a craving for a chinese buffet that I've been to a few times so I think we'll end up going there. Do you have a birthday meal tradition? What do you like to do? Thanks in advance for your input everyone.

i don't usually go out during my birthday. i used to but not anymore. it is going to be my birthday this weekend actually haha but i am going to spend it with my nephew. i will be getting my plane ticket already this week. i don't enjoy special occasions like this anymore because i am so far away from the people that make me happy. my boyfriend is abroad and so are my friends. i am just glad that i can celebrate it with my nephew who i love very much.

hey there.
i guess i will be celebrating my birthday with my nephew late because i will have to celebrate it first with friends in this private island we go to. i hope it is going to be fun too this time. i don't feel comfortable and at ease anymore because i had these bad, really bad rash and i kept scratching and now my skin looks awful 
i am not that confident wearing shorts anymore, how much more my swim suits when we go swimming there. they just try to tell me that it is going to be okay and that it is just us anyway. so we will see. i am glad i didn't get my plane ticket yet.

Usually during my birthday I choose to stay at home, watch movies, cook and be with my husband. Yearly I cooked spaghetti, fried chicken, fruits salad and vegetables salad for my birthday and celebrate with my husband only. My birthday is very special day for me, since my family are far away from me I preferred to celebrate it at home and visit church to pray and say thank you for giving me another happy year of my life.

we have birthday meal which usually contains noodles. you know noodles are very long, indicating you will live a long life. besides, birthdaycake is also a must during the meal. having birthday cake is not a chinese tradition but now most chinese have accepted it. happy birthday to you.

Traditional birthday meal here is something long...like noodles, spaghetti.
It is a superstitious beliefs that those foods means long life... :P
well...Happy Birthday and one of my friend who is also a mylotter just celebrate her birthday last Monday

I just heard that eating something long, pasta, noodles is good as it will give longer life. But what is important is that I am celebrating my birthday with my family. Unlike my last birthday when I have to celebrate it inside the training camp. I never told anybody about it. But one of them, without my knowledge, bought me a cake on that day. She knows my birthday because she is my friend in fb and she is the chief of the personnel department. I cried and cried because I really missed my family that much during that time.

In my birthday,I seldom go out and make the dinner by ourselves,cause make a meal also is a happy time for birthday,after dinner we can go to the KTV and sing many songs,and then will be buy the cake from that KTV and my relatives and friends will sing"happy birthday to you"to me,but now you give me another idea,may be eat buffet will be interestd,may be I think try this next time.

Yes, our family has a tradition of eating at a family member's birthday. Me, my wife and my two sons went to the restaurant.
Who's birthday, pay and pick the restaurant.
When my two sons of childhood, I gave them money to pay for food. But, should those who pick the restaurant.
Now they are grown up and working. They no longer ask for my money.
