Does it take you along time to be able to save to go somewhere?

I was just looking at some of my friends and seeing how they are doing on facebook. And then I noticed that one of my old friends is fortunate enough to be able to travel to London, and the surrounding areas this summer with her boyfriend. She is only nineteen years old. She just graduated high school this past year. Her boyfriend is a boxer and he is the same age. So because of that great opportunity he has before him they have been in London. It would take me a lifetime to be able to save to travel to London. I'm so happy for her. It's just so crazy how things work. For the majority of people it cost a lot to be able to travel and some people because of their type of work they get to travel almost for free.

I live alone and up to now, I have been able to go for a vacation every year. But where I go depends a lot on how much money I`m able to save. I have several means of saving a little everywhere, but it seems that now I will have to find other ways as I have spent too much money due to beingf ill last year.

I can save for vacations because up to now I have been able to live with my retirement pension and a little nest egg. I think that now I`ll have to be more modest as vacations go because being ill means a lot more expenses.

I'm glad to hear that you are able to have modest vacations. I have a feeling that we will be doing better in this regard as well. I'm doing better at saving and I think that as long as we take small vacations we can still be saving as well.

That is so awesome that you have been able to go on vacation every year. I'm sure that you have enjoyed those vacations. I agree with you about the saving part. The money part usually always has a bearing on if we are able to take a vacation or where we go.

I start traveling before I leave high school and when I turn 18 I start traveling on my own . I am in college now and though most my travel expense is taken care of by my parents . I am trying to take care of myself now but it would take me a year to travel to another country when I save , I am from the Caribbean though .

I'm glad that for the most part your parents take care of your traveling expenses. It's a great thing to be able to have parents that let you travel and see different and new places. I will look forward to traveling with my daughter as she gets older.

Yeah it does kind of take me a long time to go somewhere unless it is a place that isn't that far away. I live in Michigan and went to Mackinac Island with my girflriend a couple weeks ago and it cost me like three hundred dollars over all for the trip. It was a lot of fun though and it didn't really take me too long to save up that much but to make a trip out of state would cost me a pretty good deal of money and take more time. I'm trying to save up money to move right now and I've been paying my way through community college so it's been taking me quite a while to get any real savings going. But I'm coming up on my last semester so pretty soon I'll be able to get a lot of savings going. As of right now though I can't really afford any trips or extgravagant vacations but I'd like to be able to in the future. That's why I'm trying to work hard now so maybe I can have more opportunities like this in the future.

I'm glad that you had a good time at Mackinac Island. It's a good thing to be able to go away for a trip with our friends. Yeah three hundred is bad. Having to pay for college is expensive so it would be hard to save when you have to do that. It is a great thing to work hard, get a career you enjoy and be able to take trips later. I'm sure you will be happy when your all done going to college and are able to start working.

To make a trip in europe is expensive. I spent my saving money for a trip to europe in 2008 with some friend. We were doing backpacker because we're on tight budget. For some people who is rich it is easy to make a trip or travel to any country, but for some of use we have to work really hard. But everything is worth to fight for.

Yeah for the majority of us to be able to travel to a different country is very expensive. I'm happy that you and your friends were able to go and yet still stay within your budget. Yes we do have to fight for a lot of the things and goals that we want in life.

It took me and my boyfriend 2 years of savings just to go to Singapore, but it's a 1 month vacation with my boyfriend. :)

Yeah I can imagine it taking that long to save for such a vacation. It would be great to be able to go on vacation for that long. It's nice that you both were able to save together for that and to be able to take the time off of work. That would be great.

Typically I book my flight around six to eight months before my trip. Then in the next six to eight months I have time to save up to be able to afford my accommodation, my sightseeing entrance costs and in that country I am going to travel costs like train fares. It is possible to see London on a budget. I got given some travel vouchers so I used them and added more cash of my own. I paid for a week in a bungalow in Cornwall at a holiday camp. My main expense was petrol as I was driving for our days out to the different places. I found it very expensive to visit the Paradise Park. The gardens were cheap to visit. The bungalow was great for self catering.

I will keep these things in mind. For our trip to Hawaii I hope that I will be able to book the flight far in advance and then save for my accomodations. What worries me is that I would book my flight and then not be able to get the acccomodations for the dates that I needed later down the line. I'm glad that you were able to have travel vouchers. I'm sure that helped out. How much was it to visit the Paradise Park? Glad that your bungalow was nice. I'm thinking that if we travel to Hawaii we will stay at a local place instead of the resort. I have kept in mind what you said about supporting the local people and not the big businesses.

Well, it depends on how far I want to go and for how long. But I take 3 to 4 trips abroad each year, so I guess by most people's standards the answer would have to be no. I guess I am lucky that way, but I have to say I also work really hard at making that happen, so it's not only luck in my case.

That is awesome that you are able to take that many trips a year. I think it would be nice if I could reach the goal of two small trips a year . I would like for us to take a family trip once a year and then a trip for my husband and I. So many things tend to come up that needs our finances that we often don't take our anniversary trip. But I'm working on that so that we will be able to take a trip once a year.

Depends on where we're going. Usually, out of the country trips are more expensive. Of course it would take months of planning just to check which flight is the most economical, checking out lodgings and the itinerary. It took me a year to save enough for my first trip in another Asian country. Now that I'm married and we are a two-income generating family, the saving time shortens for the same destination. The farther the destination, the longer the saving and planning it entails.

Yeah it's nice when there are two incomes that work together for savings. For our trip it was for the most part me saving because my husband doesn't like to save for vacations or things like that. He often would say if I paid for it then he would go. So I saved for our trip last month and he had a good time. Now he is more willing to set aside money for a vacation. Do you know of any good airlines, that have economical flights. I would love for us to go to Hawaii sometime. But it cost a lot of money and it will take time to get there. But I will have to keep saving for it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
