Rescuing baby birds

Have you successfully been able to rescue baby birds? I used to try when I was a kid and it never worked. In the last year, we have rescued five babies who had fallen out of their nests. There's nothing like the feeling of nursing an animal back to health. Most were returned to the wild but two were REALLY young and couldn't be returned because they were too used to us.

my mom has tried a couple of times too. she wants to keep them all the time but i insist that she release them. there was 1 that she really couldn't let go and oh how she cried when it was killed by a cat.

Aw, how sad! For me, finding a decent food recipe was the key. Makes me sad when I think of all the baby birds I could have saved as a child had I had the Internet to tell me how to prepare food! It is hard to release them but it is best, if they are capable of it.

Recently my sister rescued a robin from a nest that fell out of the tree into her front yard. It had broken a wing so she needed to care for it for awhile before it was able to leave. She kept it in a small cage until it was strong enough to make it on its own and eventually it was able to leave. this is the only bird that I am aware of that was rescued by any one that I know. I personally have never attempted to save any baby birds because I have never had that chance. I have never seen one whom was hurt but I also would not know what to do so I don't think the bird would live if I tried.
