Lyndon Olympic is still in progress..So sad to say that my country Philippines until now never had the chance to got a single gold. It's like quite disappointing. Some of the professional athletes all over the world joined like Libron James, Cobie Bryan but how cOme Manny Pacquio did not joined? Is it with the rules of the game? I'm really confused since I know he can be able to give pride to our country,,,,,,,,,,

That was my thought as well while ago while watching the fight of Barriga though good thing he won but I am still hoping that he can make it. I am wondering as well if how come before Pacman became professional, they didn't let him fight during olympics so at least we already have gold medalist.

Yes, it's in the rules of the games. Although recently pro athletes have been allowed to compete, the sport of boxing still maintains that only amateur boxers are allowed to compete. Actually, I think it is now the only Qlympic sport left that still has this rule. It's really unfortunate though. We would've been in a very good position to win medals if this rule is changed. But I guess it's all for the best. I personally am not that enthusiastic about pro athletes competing in the Olympics. I still prefer amateurs like in the past.

Yes, it is a sad fact but the olympic boxing committee decides the rules and they want to use amateur rules in boxing, thus not allowing professional boxers to compete. It's the only sport in the Olympics who doesn't allow professional athletes.
