Do you or have you ever worked somewhere that you really felt respected and appreciated? Sadly I never have and I think that a little appreciation would go a long way in the workplace, it would probably even improve performance. What about you, how have you been shown appreciation for you hard work? Thanks for you input everyone.

A verbal "good Job" from the boss in the presence of fellow workers or the public is always appreiated. And an acknowledgement on a well written document is also a great builder.

A simple "good job" is a confidence builder I find, otherwise you might question yourself from time to time. Thanks for posting tess1960.

Our office is conducting a semestral evaluation and those who got very satisfactory rating will be given an incentive. This evaluation will give the office an opportunity to assess the performance of the employees.

I used to feel very much appreciated by the company before, all of us actually, at the customer service department. We used to receive a lot of certificates and bonuses as well for continuously supporting the company's vision and mission. Sadly though, about five years ago, our department was merged with the SALES department. But the OLD customer service officers became backroom officers and the SALES officers, became the NEW frontliners. Now, we no longer feel the company cares for us anymore. It's always them that gets the certificates and commissions. We are unappreciated and under compensated too. But though this is the present case, we are optimistic that the company will soon realize that it will not retain it's clients if it is only after the selling. It's really very important that you give utmost care to the after sales concerns coming from people when they start using your products. And we are all hoping that the company realizes this soon before we start looking for new jobs. After all, we all have loved this company from the time we became part of it. :(

Overall having happy employees is beneficial to the company, they would be better off putting out the money for bonuses, etc. Happy staff is helpful staff and customers see right through that.

i used to have a good job a year ago. i am doing sales. but the problem is, in spite of all the effort i did, it never happened that my boss showed appreciation of my job instead she still seeks for my mistakes. they say show a man a white paper with a tiny dot and he will not notice the white background instead the tiny dot.

I think even just coming up and making a compliment on something minor we did would feel good, how much effort does that take?
