People who view our profile

Hello. Yesterday I saw that my profile was viewed 14 times. I was happy to see that someone showed interest to know what is written in my profile page. One hour later the viewers were not 14, they were 13, after that 12. So it got me wondering about how this works. Does this system, which counts our profile viewers restart in 24 hours? Do the viewers start again with the number of 0 next day? I apologize if the discussion sound out of sense for some people. I am just curious to know more about it.
