What things do you do when your parent/s come over to help you out?

Today my mom will be coming over this morning. I've already got an early start but I still feel like I'm not going to have enough time to get everything done. I dropped by husband off at work this morning, and got gas for the car. Now I'm trying to get a little down around the house and get some work done online. When my mom gets here I know she will do the dishes she always helps me out (love her, I hate doing dishes). Then I have got to go to a bunch of garage sales and look for some neat stuff for my online business. I hope I'm able to find good things because we can use the extra money. What do you try and get done when your parents come over?

That sure is nice of your mom to help you out like that, my mom is the same way as she always wants to help people. When my parents come over, I can usually find something that I'd like my dads opinion on ( things to do with building as this is what he enjoys to do). I honestly don't feel like he's coming over to be put to work, he actually enjoys this sort of thing as a hobby so it works out nice that we can visit and be productive at the same time.

I agree with you. It is really nice for my mom to help out. I'm glad that your dad and you are able get quit a bit accomplished when he comes over. That is really a good thing. It's nice to be able to spend time with our family and get work done as well.

It is so great that your mom comes over to visit. With me it's the other way around I go over and visit my mom and help her out. Now before your mom gets there I would have done your research and figure out what you're looking for at the garage sale. I would also have all the yard sales addresses written down and go to the ones that are closest to you. Let your mom know that you want to go to a few yard sales this morning and you'd love to take her along. She could help you pick out stuff or you could send her to one while you go to another one. I use to always involve my mom with all my yard sales, estate sales and thrift store shopping. I even had her one time sit in a chair and go over all the clothes that I had picked out and set aside all the ones that had defects that I might have overlooked. I also had my mom help me set things up and I had her put clothes on the maniquin so I could take pictures. Mom just loves to help. Hey mom would you mind coming over and helping me take pictures so I can put them online? She'd probably jump at the opportunity and it would save you time and with time you can put more on. It's all about volume. I have sold online for ten years and also have sold at swap meets to supplement my income and it is alot of fun especially when you find a pinchicho machine or a navigator for a boat and pick it up for $5.00 or on a movie projector that the bulb actually works or some dinner plates that you can get $10.00 a piece for. Thrift stores are good too especially if you go on a Monday and get things for $1.00 and sell it for $15.00 or more.

I'm glad to hear that you have had so much success with selling online. I hope that as I have more time I can continue to shop and find good deals like you mentioned that I can make a profit from. I will definitely have to keep my eyes open when I go to thrift stores and second hand stores now that it's getting colder out. It really does help to know what is valuable and what is not. That saves a lot of money and time.

I would make a plan that includes her, while being productive during the visit. Make it fun, explain to her your situation and needs for the day. I would make a plan like; when she arrives spend about ten minutes catching up, and communicate your concerns, While shes doing the dishes gather up a list of garage sales to go to. Get her interested in your online money making ideas and enlighten her to whats hot online and most profitable, let her know what to look for while you guys are at these garage sales. I hope this helps!

Thanks. We had a pretty good morning. Before she got here my computer was acting up so that gave me a little late start. But when I got going things went pretty well. I only went to two garage sales. The first one I went to turned out to be great. I was able to find quit a bit of items. Which was nice because then I didn't have to drive all over to go to other ones. I paid the car payment and picked up my husband for lunch. It went by pretty fast.
