Today me and my husband spend like maybe about 1 hour or so at the health department. Last week at my last doctor visit I was told my insurances has no OB coverage which wasn't good at all not having that because that means I would have to pay everything out of pocket which I can't afford at all. So they told me to just go back to the health department because the nurse knows I had medicare which is state insurances through the government to cover my pregnancy. I said okay because it's really not a problem but I'm on bed rest so I really can't go and spend all day by myself there and it's not like my husband can take off all this time to take me to all these places. So this morning he woke up and told me he was going to take me today and get ti done he would take a point form work since the next time he has off we wouldn't have time to sit here and wait to be seen. So we went like at 9am waited about 30 minutes and got in. We printed everything we need but when we started talking to the women I was surprised I didn't need anything but my birth certificate and verification that I was indeed pregnant. I look pregnant that should be evidence I enough but I know that isn't how it work. So I had my doctor fax over when I'm due and that they will go back 90 days and pay any of me pregnancy medical bills. If I had none earlier in my pregnancy that I didn't have converge for my OB I would have gone in sooner when it was easier to get into the health department. But I'm glad its done I have to wait a week before seeing my papers or my card so I can give it to my doctors office. We looked at getting our own health insurances but we just don't have the money for it so we have to stay on our parents health insurances for another year till my husband gets another raise or two. His health benifities at work are pretty bad so we never took them. I"m only weeks way from my son being born so this is just one less thing to worry about.

I remember when I was married we did a quote for me on health insurance through BCBS and it was like $400 per month with the bulk of it being because of pregnancy dues. I knew of someone who had to pay $1000 to the hospital because they didn't have quite enough coverage to cover everything... Terrible.. I hate that Maternal and Womanly checkups and such are considered so pricey. I'm glad you got what you needed to get done today. The one time I went to the health department we didn't wait very long and it was a nice visit.

Well I know in the last few years more and more women have to go to the health department so it's always busy they do a lot of things there. They do the foot stamps, welfar, they do child care and child care medicare and womens medicare a little bit of males. Health care is expensive these days. I didn't pay a dime with my daughter. I still done because she is covered with the state. I was on it with her but thought I was covered under my parents because most insurances now do dependents of daughters because teens getting pregnant but my dad doesn't have it. His insurances covers me to get birth control and have gynecological visits. I don't pay very much of that bill when things like that get done it's about like $75. I have to pay for ultrasounds and stuff which get expensive and I see two sets of OB's for two very different reasons so the coast is double and then I got deliver which that coast money and the medication they give you and stuff. What ever I've paid in the last 90 days they will give me back that money which will be nice the rest they will cover thank goodness. I wouldn't mind paying for the Pregnancy if I had OB coverage but I know I can't pay for it with out having some insurances. We looked for our own coverage just with myself and it would have been $200 and they would only cover about $5000 which isn't to bad but $200 a month that is almost as much as I pay for our car. Some insurances they have it as and opition so I was going to have my mom see how much it was and pay for it and then pay for my medical bills but now she doesn't have to look at that at all. When we left there was so many people there that it was hard to leave. The last time we where there we had and appointment because the time before then we went first thing in the morning but they made us make and appointment and a lot of the time they are jerks today they had nice people there. It just depends on how you is there that day. It's like when I go to WIC I never know how is going be a jerk to me or not.

I forgot to mention that the health department I went to is in a very small county. You can get around it in one hour. I dont' remember what the deductable or anything like that was on everything I looked at. I never got pregnant it was for the just in case. I have a friend who has wic for her child, food stamps, medicare for both of them, daycare vouchers.. It's a mess and the people that she's had to deal with were very rude. I don't understand how they don't hire people who can deal with that kind of stress. That money they are giving you back is great, it will come in handy. Though I'm not sure if I am understanding correctly. They will actually cut you a check for it?

I don't think it matter where exactly you are from. I live in small area but still there is a lot of young people like myself that just can't afford health care. A lot of people do wait till the after noon and others wait till like today Fridays are the worst. Now you have to be pregnant to get health insurances through the government if you are not then they will not give it to you personally. They will give it to your kids if they don't have any. Yes they can be very rude some times. They tend to hire people that think your going to be poor and have adittudes to you. I get called by a different every time I go in and I hated they say my name wrong. Because I"m half hispanic they like to add and A I have to corrrect them that that isn't how you say my name that isn't how its write on anything I"ve mine. Some people are the WIC office are very nice but the health deparetment to get like certain things set up they are mean at times. It really like depends on how is working that day. When your on Medicare they look at your income level other wise you don't get it as well. We are poor is what they saying for how people live in our house and what money we have. So what Medicare does like Medicade they pay for everything that is related to in my case pregnancy. If it has nothing to do with my pregnancy then they will not pay for it and I have to pay for it. Which is fine. But pretty much every dime my husband makes at work and gets taxed for is paying for all of my medical bills through the government. I'm only pretty much covered for free till the baby is born and the first 8 weeks of that baby's life after that I'm pretty much no longer covered unless I become pregnant again which I'm not planing to like I wasn't planning to with this one. Then my medicare goes to my baby and he is covered till either he is 18 years old or till he is 5 and our income level increases. So yes they will send my money back for any bills that I've paid in the last 90 days that is related to my pregnancy other wise they will not send me and my back.

Hi bear, nice to hear of pregnancy isurances are available in your country. But no such insurance is available in my country. Insurance company like MetLife Alico says its all natural situations are no worthy of being insured. Wtf!

I'm sorry that sucks. Well not everyone can get it here you have to prove that you need government help.
