hi mylotters, Yesterday was festival of Raksha Bandhan it is a festival that celebrated by brother and sister in India, Nepal and some part of Pakistan this festival shows the love and protection of siblings to each other. I made some greetings for my Indian friends and tag it to them to their facebook account then one of my Indian friend message me saying " are you serious you greeted me rakhsha bandhan I told him why? Scared I might ask you to pay for my dowry? hahahah! he said No I am not fool to pay for that dowry thing, he told me that this festival is a nightmare cause once in your life you need to do something risky as you celebrate this festival. He send me a pic that shows some act you need to do as a brother during this festival I will attach here. I don't know if this is really part of celebrating this festival. he even told me that once a girl ask him he should give her something so what he did is she slapped the girl I told me you don't do that I don't have anything to give her so I give her a slap So what can an Indian Brother can tell about this? happy mylotting .

The only thing that comes to my mind is, all craps. I celebrated Raksha Bandhan with my cousins too. Didn't had to go through any of this. All this are made up stories my dear. The sisters tie a Rakhi on the brother's wrist and in return the brother gifts her something (definitely not a slap, as it would violate the auspicious ritual) and promises to protect her from all evil that may come on her. So a brother is suppose to protect his sister, all his life. He takes the vow every year on Raksha Bandhan. Now if a brother is suppose to protect his sister, why would he slap her. This is a violation of the ritual then and there. Also, I'm sure if he slapped his sister instead of a gift, his sister didn't spare him as well. Haha. I think he said all these in the name of humour. Btw, I gifted my sisters a container full of chocolates and ladies bag. Hope I have made things more clearer to you know. Good luck!

That's exactly my point. On this auspicious day you vow to protect your sister, also gift her something. The sister didn't do wrong by asking for a gift. But if he returns a slap for that, its a violation of the very essence of the festival. You're suppose to protect her, not hit her yourself! Haha.
