Communal Showers

When I was at school I wouldn't go in a communal shower. Obviously, they were split between the boys and the girls but I was so self-conscious that - even after a sweaty session in P.E. I still wouldn't shower. Sounds disgusting doesn't it? Not really. I wasn't the only one...plus I didn't stink. Unfortunately, none of the P.E. teachers were bothered about the shy pupils. If it were me in charge I'd let the Headmaster know that single showers were a necessary requirement of P.E. lessons and should be installed immediately. They never were of course but probably are now. I remember vividly a bullying girl from my class bouncing the netball onto my head because I wasn't throwing the ball back in quickly enough (she was the Captain of the school team and a butch cow) and we played outside in the FOG. The only time we got out of Games was if it rained! I did like playing badminton indoors though.

If it required returning something, like tennis or badminton, I was out of luck, I swear my rackets had holes the size of the racket! They only developed holes AFTER the serve!

it was due to lack of depth perception, until even a car is coming at me, I can only tell how far it is by how big it is

Oh dear. Is that due to poor quality or the powerful way you played?

I hated showering at school, I always felt like some one was looking at me, even if I were the only one in the locker room. We had communal showers too, but my friend and I brought in fishing line and strung it up from one wall to the other over the shower heads so that we could hang our towels and have a bit of privacy. And in case maintenance or a janitor ever took it down, I kept the spool of line in my locker so we'd just string more back up. It wasn't quite the same as actual stalls but it did interrupt the room when everyone hung their towels, it's just that no one could use the first two showers. I have always hated PE too, just because I was the book worm, klutz that can't catch a ball and whom always got hurt. Literally, after my second month in 8th grade, my PE teach sent me to the library because I would get hurt so often. I remember the principal saying I was doing it on purpose until he watched me try to play soccer one day. I enjoy playing soccer, even though I end up eating the grass most of the time. After that, he said it would be better if I went to the library too, just because of the insurance policy the school had. I did pass of their tests though, I could run my butt off, and I could do the push up/sit up exams.

Awww, that sounds like me! I was awful at sports as well. I was OK if it was a game played outside of school, you know..in the street with no pressure, but at school? No chance! I was at my happiest playing badminton in a 'friendly' or shooting hoops or whatever it's called..on my own. As for the main school netball team, I don't think they were that good anyway..just THOUGHT they were and they're the worst aren't they?

My high school had showers in the girls change room, but we never used them. No one. Not one. The only time they got used was when there was a visiting boys basketball team, then we girls got kicked out of our own loo (they were connected). When there was a visiting girls team, both teams shared the same change room.

I'm pleased I wasn't the only one experiencing this...in a nice way..well, you know what I mean. I remember getting changed in a cubicle at the local baths (since closed) and panicked as I very nearly locked myself in, something I did at a train station many years earlier and my parents had to come in and "rescue" me, even though I found my own way out eventually! I just screamed a lot and they came runnin! Can't stand locks as I'm convinced it's going to happen again one day, locking myself in!

Hi Janey! I didn't take co Menial showers either. I was always called fat. I wasn't that big always as a hid but I had a pot belly and still have a hanging stomach. I would never get naked.
