Lets do our bit to spread awareness on the usage of non painted idols made out of clay during the ganesha festival. Lets try to minimize the pollution which myt be caused due to the usage of paints. DO our bit by spreading the awareness in the society as well. Few dangers assossiated with the paints are, They contain harmfull chemicals lead, arsenic etc as coloring agents. These can act on nervous system human body and starts showing its effect over the period of time. when idols are immersed in water, the contaminants pollute the water, cattle feed on grass grown on polluted water. Pavan! I agree with your view, paints are harmful to living things. You might know about improper disposal of industrial wastes, chemicals, pharmaceutical wastes etc. This are all more dangerous to earth than paints. And this festival comes once in a year, don't worry for other things just enjoy the festival. Happpy ...

You myt be knowing that Now a days industries are not allowed to leave the waste and harmfull water directly into the river. Water is treated well before coming out of the industries. Now if you know the population of India specially just Mumbai. Each family will be having one idol each. So you can imagine the pollution caused on the month of september alone. This pollution is much larger than the industry wastes. Any ways we can do a little to control pollution
