I don't take good people for granted because there are so few of them! I've always tried to be a good person, but so many people take advantage of you when you are good. So, I've kind of taken a different approach these days. I feel people out before I'm good to them. Because it hurts a lot to be taken advantage of.

Yes, without the bad, we can never determine what is good.
Without beauty we will never know how to differentiate it from ugliness.
Sometimes, we need to lost the good person to realize that we've taken them for granted. (so bad)

Nowadays it's very difficult to find a real friend, one you could trust and one that will stand by you through rough times. I have been disappointed by so many people, so it's a bit difficult for me to invest emotionally on others nowadays. However, I try to stay true to them and I treat them the way I want to be treated...with respect.

I love that quote as well. As for my experience, most of the time I've been hurt and was taken for granted. People at times fail to appreciate that goodness in you no matter how good you've been to them and no matter how useful you have been. Every time they feel that you're of no use anymore, they'll just dump you that easily, hurt you and worse even make you feel worthless. It's really ironic to know why such good people are in return being hurt in the end knowing they've been very good to the people they love. How I wish people would learn to value the worth of the people who are good to them.

Those people will be the ones to uplift us in times of trouble. We need to be good to everybody though, good or bad. Who knows, the bad ones will eventually change for the better and will be able to help us in our endeavours. Thanks and nice discussion here.
