As we all know, this is fasting month for muslim. While they fasting, there are a lot of Christian breath a sigh relief because we do not required to fast. But there are an idea also that Christian also have a period of must fast. In our church, Anglican, we are emphasis to fast during Good Friday. During that day we see a lot of people fasting avoid any type of food until the evening. We even been emphasis to fast during Lent in memorial that Jesus also fast during that period. The idea of fasting in Christian is not clear. When we should fast and how we should fast. But we are encourage to fast. Because of this, I would like to seek mylotters help to give their idea about fasting.

I do not agree that Christians are not called to fast, it is mentioned many times in the New Testament particularly Matthew 6. There is no particular requirement to fast on Good Friday. I fast usually 2 days a week and many at our Church once a month. I usually start a fast at the start of the night and end it 36 hours later, I take only fluids during that time. Pray before you fast, to offer the fast to God and to ask God to give you strength to complete it I do not consider that Muslims fast, since they only abstain during daylight all the best, urban

Fasting are regularly mention in the Bible. But there are no certain rules that said we must fast at certain time and certain date. We fast as our own willing. Matthew 6:16-18. 16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. It just mention not to show the world that we are fasting but kept it within ourselves. Mark 2:18 18 Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus, “How is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?” From this two words, it is stated that we don't have to fast because we are obliged too but fast on our free will.

Christians do fast. There is a 40 days fasting for Christians during easter time. It is called the Lent. I have done it and it is very refreshing. I think fasting in christian is clear. I fast whenever I want to and I want to do it to grow stronger in the Lord. I am a Pentecostal but my husband is Catholic. I hardly go to church But I believe and pray at home. thanks for sharing. have a wonderful day ahead.

That is what we all been taught. Fast during Lent in rememberance that Jesus fast for 40 days in the wilderness after He was baptise. It's not wrong either as we try to follow Christ footstep. While I can't remember any quote in the Bible said when we must fast, it is written that when we fast we should boast or show for it. Just kept it within ourselves and GOD. And it is also important to go to Church as often as we can either.

In my own personal opinion, there is no specific time to fast. We can fast whenever and wherever we want to as long as our hearts ask for it. I am a Christian too and I fast whenever I want to be alone with God. When I feel that I want to have a quiet time with God, I do fast and spend my whole time in my room and read the Bible and meditate and pray.

That is what I believe as well. There are no certain requirement when we should fast. But fasting is good for us spiritually as well. The most important thing when we fast is that we focus on being together with GOD spiritually.
