Are vehicles that are used for transport here in my country they are like small buses that carries around 24 passengers and a driver sometimes less sometimes more and inside you face each other on parallel benches and there is a handle over your head so that you can cling on that while on the ride it gets kinda bumpy sometimes but it is a good vehicle for transport just that the drivers are not really educated in traffic rules.

Jeepneys are the best accessible transportation here in our country and i must say the most affordable. But what's so sad are there are many rude drivers that drive their jeepneys very fast which is not safe.

Correct. This is implemented on bus drivers. But for jeepney drivers there are none. I really wish this could be implemented on all transportation drivers so that drivers could learn the problems that they are causing on the road. Jeepney drivers are really the cause of traffic in main roads here in the Philippines.

Yeah sad to say that our iconic mode of transportation is also a cause of problem for our country's growth well i hope that the government will do something about this and also against those corrupt traffic enforcers that take advantage of our drivers that just adds to our problem in our society.

You said it, it is a danger to have such drivers that do not care for the welfare of other drivers i just wish that the government will actually implement the right examinations to drivers almost comparable to the exam made abroad so in some sense the drivers will have some knowledge of what are they violating and the standards that should be.

Ho! I do find, in order, the most reckless vehicles in our country as: buses, motorcycles, taxi cabs, jeepneys, fx then private cars. It seems that if drivers are already working in the road for about a big amount of time already, the tendency is that they feeling that they are the king of the roads already. They just think that they can experiment and move past the hi-ways with unbelievable speed and be invincible at that. Well, there are a lot of bad drivers here in our country, that is why there are a lot of road rage incidents. If only people will get disciplined and remain calm. But still, I do ride jeepneys. It is the only way for me to get out of our subdivision together with tricycles. Good thing the ride is only short. I prefer the MRT because it is fast. Sometimes, jeepneys tend to stop and go to a lot of loading and unloading points and even fills the vehicle until everybody is tightened up before going full speed. Hence, all the waiting time contribute to being late.

You said it agent, i think that since this is what feeds them daily they just try so hard to fill up there jeeps with people they don't really care about the rules on the road or the condition of the passengers it is more important to put food on the table and belly's well i do think that there should be reforms on traffic rules and enforcers and in my opinion it would take a lot to stop this ways of drivers,i just hope that the next leader that we as the country's voters will elect a smart and willful leader to change this country not only on the roads but as a whole.

That's the sad part of it. Drivers are reckless. They don't know what the sole responsibility of a driver of a public utility vehicle. No wonder some foreigners would say that jeepneys are cool but just too dangerous. Can't blame them for thinking like that.

I agree with you on that i had been driving for a while now and understand our local traffic very well so i can see the mistakes that are being made by the drivers, there was this one time that a jeepney driver got into an argument with a traffic enforcer because the enforcer was hiding when the jeepney driver drove past a stop light and the driver was angry because he thought that the officer was dubious to hide, see even though he did something wrong he is implying that the officer is the one at fault. I just hope that someday people here in the country will have more teeth when it comes to rules.

I agree that a lot of them do not follow rules, but another side of it to be fair is the "boundary system", as the name implies you have to make as much trips as you can in order to reach the boundary or what you have to give to the jeepney operator, they also have to take into account the rising prices of crude, not to mention some corrupt traffic enforcers who at times milk them, and fares are hardly if not hiked. After they earned the boundary, what's left is what they can bring home to their family, no wonder some of them drive that way. I guess those who own their own jeepneys are more careful cause they know the expenses and liabilities when you own and operate your own motor vehicle.

Hi, As I see it, jeepney rivers in our place are competent enough to stay out of trouble. In my years of riding in public conveyances, I still have to be involved in an accident and I'm really not looking forward to have one. I heard a lot news with jeepneys involved in accidents, really, but rarely do they occur here, perhaps once every three years at most.

@rog0322, I'm happy to hear it's like that in your place and you never had an accident involving public transport, well it's a little bit different here in the city, wider roads, lots of people all in a hurry plus the fact that jeeps compete with buses, it's like a rat race. I had been there south, I don't know if it's similar in your place but in the places where i had been, jeeps go a little bit slower, probably because there are lesser passengers and people are less in a hurry, the only bad thing I had observed is there are passengers even on top or on the hood of jeeps, even cargo and sacks of rice etc... while negotiating dangerous mountain passes, I had seen this more in the remote barrios.

Hey there louie, well i guess the law should be enforced holistically so as to be fare to all but for this one i think that there should be a nation wide study on ho are drivers passing licensure and renewals in this manner and what are the factors that causes them to be this way on the roads and what we can do to help them and solve the problems of corruption in regards to transportation.

Not really educated in traffic rules ? The life of 24 people depends on the drivers. How do the drivers drive ? Do they just use their eyes and drive according to the traffic condition ? It's like they drive according to the environment ? If they drive on high ways , they must follow the rules. If they drive inside towns , they can drive slow but use their eye sight and see what they can do even if the rules are blur. How often do you take the Jeepneys ?

Well most of the time, am not saying that they are uneducated and am not saying that all dont know the traffic rules but most of them dont know traffic signs, they over-speed, they swerve and cause traffic jams behind them that are obstruction cases and they dont care as long as they can pick up a passenger or two. I am just saying that most of our drivers are not really understanding what they cause in traffic and how this basic thing affects everybody in the country especially if most drivers are driving in this manner.

One funny thing is that those jeepneys are also the solution : If everybody use them , there will be a lot less cars on the roads and a lot more parking lots available. Like buses ...

I like buses too, if i will be made to choose. It's a bigger car and unlike jeepneys, which is small and could just be bumped by buses. Though, i must admit, it's easier to alight from a jeepney, than from a bus.

There are lot of drivers that are not following the traffic rules that may cause an accident. Sometimes the jeep is only allow to load 20 person but the driver is trying to pick up more that 20 so many passenger cannot sit properly. But there are still some drivers that following the rules. I think jeep is much safer to ride when the driver is following the rules.

Hi there bubuth, Well i do think that there are still some that follow the rules and i have ridden a lot of them but they are outnumbered i think by those who dont follow the rules, in my opinion if we can correct this issue this will solve and bring about a huge change in our country positively.

I agree that there are still some drivers following the rules. By the way i heard in news television about the traffic enforcer that been promoted because he did his job well. If all the traffic enforcer is like him many of drivers will learn to follow the rules.
