eating their words

I hate people who don't open their mouths when they talk. They're like eating their words. Maybe they're shy but they have to speak clearly in order to be understood. It usually takes our time. We have to ask them to repeat what they've said again and again. It's troublesome.

Yes, you are right. They are so timid and shy. I hope they'll talk clearer and louder. It would be easier to understand them if they'll talk properly. Younger children are tolerable but adults are not.

If it is not due to a physical disability that prevent them from opening their mouths when they talk then I would certainly be tired of them. Some people may do that intentionally to make them appear differently which might not appear nice to the listeners. Or may be they are too shy to open their mouths fully to be understood clearly.

I guess most of them are the shy ones. Shyness won't do them any good. If they won't speak clearly, they would really get more attention and they will be more shy. If they'll fix how they talk then they'll be clearly understand and the conversation will end as quick as possible. They should open their mouths and talk louder and clearer. I guess that's easy.

Hello there. That also happens to me while talking to some of my students. I think it's not so good to have this situation, like talking to them and you couldn't get what they are saying because their words are really unclear. In my case, I would really ask them to repeat what they have said. Sometimes, they feel a bit bad because they might think I'm not listening to them or something. What can I do? I couldn't really get what they are saying because they don't want to open their mouths that much while talking. They shouldn't expect that I would understand them. It's good, not all of them are like that. Only few of them. So I advise them to talk clearly or they shouldn't eat their words while answering my questions. They should pronounce the words well so our discussion will run smoothly and I don't have to let them repeat what they already said. Good evening to you. HappymyLotting. :)

Yeah, it's really troublesome when we let them repeat what they've said. Some of them might get angry and some of them might get offended if you tell them that they're eating their words. They should listen to themselves. It would be better if they will speak clearly and loudly so that they can be understood in just one shot. LOL.

These are insecure people. People with no confidence in speaking. They need to learn how to be confident but it's not easy for them. I hate people who starts with a bang and ends with a whimper. That shows unpreparedness. And that I wouldn't be able to understand.

You're right. It's not good if they don't have any confidence. It would be better if they'll organize their thoughts well. Some are very fast in talking that's why they sometimes they eat their words. It's better to be slow, loud and clear. They should practice talking in front of the mirror and listen to themselves while talking. It's better to start with a bang and end with a bang too. :)

You mean unclear articulation on how they pronounce? In some cases people does have what we called DYSARTRIA, a condition that occurs when problem of the muscles that help you talk make it difficult to pronounce words.Or he can actually try some oral exercises to improve speech and communication.

Yes. They can't articulate or pronounce the words or sentences clearly. They're like talking to themselves or murmuring to themselves. It won't be hard to understand them if they will speak louder and clearer. Oh, thanks for the information. Yeah, maybe some are suffering from this dysartria.
