Pawnshop in Metropoint Mall of Pasay City Robbed last Thursday

As I already went home with my usual transportation routine such as jeep MRT tricycle last Thursday I have no idea what was going on there especially when I passed by the MRT Taft Ave. station wherein it was beside the Metropoint Mall in Pasay. My Aunt asked me if I came there then she was shocked that I've been there, asking me if there were many people. That is the time she told me about what happened that there was robbery inside the mall that targets the Tambunting pawnshop. Again I have no idea that it happened. Good thing it was 3:00 pm when that crime happened so it means that I was still in the office during that time. Honestly that mall is our accessibility in everyday life because of being connected to the stations of MRT and LRT. Though my sister in law was able to witness while she was outside the mall riding a jeep but still experienced the panic because she thought there was a bomb threat seeing people are coming outside from the mall. As the witnesses claimed that they were able to escaped while people are stepping out of the exit towards LRT station then some of them are even changing clothes. Some are claiming that they even ride the taxi. Stampede happened and there was one woman who got her wounds on her forehead while the stampede is going on. On the brighter side since their intention is just to steal money or any valuable things no one was killed and became victim of this crime. Though I am still questioning the security that how come it wasn't detected that somebody are already bringing the fire arms. Nevertheless everybody was safe during that time. I am still thankful enough that at least the suspects has no intentions to kill anyone unlike what happened to the shooting in USA that without any reason they just want to kill other people which is I think that is more scary. Though when I've heard the news on site it was indicated that it was the 3rd time that the Metropoint had been targeted by the suspects of robbery. All I can think now is to ask God's protection from all harms.

I pass by that mall occasionally and I noticed that the guards there are not as strict in checking the bags of those coming in compared to other malls. Besides, there are so many people coming in and out so checking the luggages thoroughly would certainly cause delay.

Personally, I would rather have my luggage inspected thoroughly and be delayed for a little while because means I'll have peace of mind when I enter the mall.

That is the problem when they become so strict it will take too much time especially for those people who are totally in hurry.

It's already alarming to think that such establishments inside the Mall is not already safe from unscrupulous criminals....the security of the mall should really focused on this and that it should be eradicated.

To think that this mall is already very small then the security weren't still alert to this matter. Although it was suspected as well that this has something to do with inside job.

I heard about this in the news and was saddened about it. I do recall having gone inside Metropoint to have my dollars changed in one dollar exchanger there twice or thrice and it somehow gave me chills that robbery could happen anywhere.

Hello metatronik, i think be vigilant in your surroundings when ever we leave the comforts of our home. when you're poor and hungry you are tend to do extremes just to get some in order to buy food and necessities and with regards to our safety we should look around us all the time. never take much money on the wallet. the reason there is guts and desperation, because we have so much poor on the country..

I agree due to the poverty or being so much poor but then the suspects have no choice but to do a crime like this. The brighter side of this incident is that they were able to do ways that they can't kill anyone or did not intended to harm a person unless they were caught in the act. That area in Metropoint is really prone for robbery. I remember one time when my valuable things were lost when I am about to ride the MRT. Because of that I wasn't able to go to the gym during that time, of course I have no money. It was useless already to report. That place was even featured in XXX already because of snatchers. But the funny thing about this place is that there are some parts that has been used for a hollywood film which was Bourne Legacy.

That is really bad news for us. Hope we have those strict and tight security be implemented 24/7. As citizens, we may remain vigilant for we just don't know when bad elements will attack. I'm also praying for peace and safety of everyone. Thanks

The problem with that mall is that it is already very small so understood it has few guards. I think it is now time to have technology that can detect the dangerous weapons. Because checking by the guards is not enough and yet it will take much time.
