Hello All- I need some professional advises for my children. Please do give your advises if you are a physician or went through similar situation as me. I have two children who are 1years old and 3 years old. I will explain their situation in here. 1 year old: When she was born the doctor told us that her kidney is enlarge meaning she has polycystic kidney disease. After she was born I was told to see an specialist and the first nephrologist specialist I went to immediately suggested her to go through kidney transplant which I thought it was a quick and hast decision. So I changed that doctor to another one in order to get a 2nd opinion. To my surprise the 2nd doctor told me at the moment she only needs to take the high blood pressure medication as her blood pressure's high. I was ok with that eventhough most of the time her blood pressure was taking she was crying because she wasn't please with the tifness of the machine. She's been taking this medication for a year now and her last visitation I've asked the doctor can we stop the medication now or is it a lifetime and his respond was continue to give her. I'm not a medication fan so I am against the idea of giving my daughter a medication that can have side effects through her life cycle. So far she's doing great, fit and active. I feel like I need to do more research on this topic but don't know where to begin. Even if I have to travel across the country in order to find a good and caring doctor...I WILL. Please let me know if you can HELP! 3 year old: My son has always been at home until he was almost to turn 3 years. Where by then I took him to a daycare and after 2-3 weeks later, he started having continous running nose for approximately 3 months. At some point, it became infection where I had to take him to doctors. The 1st doctor told me he needs a surgery so I refused and went for a 2nd doctor for another opinion. The 2nd doctor prescribed him medications to stop the infection and running nose which it did for almost 2 weeks but now that his medication had finished its back again. He has an appointment soon and I'm thinking what can I do? Should he undergo the surgery by removing his tonsil and nostril or should I let the doctor keep prescribing him medication after medication??? Your advises are more than welcome!

I am not sure what you should do about your one years old, But my step brother had similar problems to your 3 year old and he had to have his tonsils out and he could breath a lot better after that. His were very swollen though I dont know if your 3 year old has that or not. I hope you find someone with more experience who can help you. good luck

They said his sinus has gotten large and that's where all of this problem started. When your step brother had his removed how long did it took him to recover? For how long was he hospitalized?

I think he was only in the hospital for a day, I think it only took maybe 2 weeks to fully recover, really it made his voice sound funny for a while. He was 6 I think when he had his done.

I am scheduling him for the surgery. Hopefully it'll help him to breathe better. Thanks for your kind advise.

Sorry can't help with the 1 year old, but the 3 year old might need to have his tonsils removed. I was in the hospital for a day and recovered in about a week. The doctor tried several medications and the problem would come back when I finished the medication. I think the first doctor was right, but medication is a lot cheaper when it works.

I am not a medication type person so surgery will be a best way to go. Since he will breathe better.
