last year, we went to the beach to relaxed and swim. the beach is beautiful, blue water and fine sand. the beauty of the view is a sight to behold. while i was walking around i saw a bunch of fishermen, they eating something very unfamiliar to me. because of curiosity i asked them, what they are eating? they are happy to give me a taste of their food without mentioned what it was. while eating, one of the fisherman said it is a puffer fish! i get shocked and try to vomit the food inside my mouth. but alas! i already swallowed it. sweat run into my body and i felt a certain coldness because as far as i know puffer fish is a kind of fish that is poisonous. one of the fisherman said that they already removed the poisonous sac of the fish so there is no need to worry about. upon hearing it and guaranteed that they are expert on this, i felt a relieved but after that i consulted a doctor and based on his findings, no manifestation of poison inside my body. the lesson to me, do not eat that is not familiar....ha!ha!ha!

You are totally right! Don't eat anything you're not familiar with. But if in case you are with someone and your companion knows if it's safe to eat, go ahead and eat it. Anyway, there's always a first for everything.

Puffer fish? I don't actually eat fish unless I am familiar with it so I have zero chance of eating puffer fish. I am not familiar with that fish but why o why you dare toeat with those fishermen? I can't do that. Unless I am familiar with those people I can't really eat with them. You must be a very friendly person. Anyway I wish you have attached a photo of that puffer fish. I don't actually eat fish unless I am familiar with it.

Hi, Having grown up near the sea, I am quite familiar with the puffer. Most of the time we just let them rot when landed by some fishermen. It is not really a good idea eating them even if some claimed they could remove the toxic parts. We have lots documented cases of whole families eradicated after eating the toxic fish. If no other fish is available, we would rather go vegetarian than eat them.

I agree with you. I myself is very careful taking in food especially if it is not familiar to me. I cannot for the life of me eat something which I have no knowledge about. It is not a matter of being picky, I am just aware that there are some food which I cannot take because I am allergic to it. Good to know that nothing bad happened to you

it has poisonous sac really but if those are removed, there's no need to worry. i have known people eating puffer fish since it's their means of living too yet they're all fine. The liver, gonads (ovaries and testes), intestines, and skin of some puffer fish contain the toxins tetrodotoxin and/or saxitoxin. These toxins are 1,200 times more deadly than the poison cyanide and can affect a person's central nervous system. There are no known antidotes for these toxins. Puffer fish must be cleaned and prepared properly so the organs containing the toxins are carefully removed and do not cross-contaminate the flesh of the fish. These toxins cannot be destroyed by cooking or freezing.

I had the chance of eating puffer fish because some of my friends cooked puffer fish for meal. I was hesitant at first because I know that it is poisonous. But gladly nothing happened to us. From what I understand, it depends on how you prepare the fish. Something must be taken out before it is safe for eating. That is why, there are those that are poisoned simply because it was not properly cleaned and not prepared well.

i agree don't eat food that you don't know, my friends eat fruits that they don't know so then they were poisoned. They were shock, mouth bubbles all most killed by that kind of fruit that no human should eat.
