So, I made a most recently that I didn't know whether or not I should adopt the dog I've been fostering for 7 months. I got some nice, supportive responses from a few of you, and I appreciated all of them. But my younger sister is the one who convinced me what the right decision was. She told me that Tinkerbell had bonded to me, and that it wouldn't happen often with her since she's scared of strangers. And that if I didn't adopt her, she would probably be at the shelter for a long long time. After a long time of trying to find Tinkerbell a home...she finally has one. With me. I adopted her 4 days ago from the Home 'Fur' Good animal rescue. She has a new collar, and she never has to be in a cage again. Tinkerbell is MY first dog. All the other dogs we've had in the past were always technically my moms, and i never picked them out. Tinkerbell is the first dog that I've wanted that I got, and it's only my name on her paperwork! I am very happy. Here's my adoption picture with Tinkerbell. I'll have to keep you guys updated on all her quirks (because she has a lot of them).

Awww, well I'm sure he lived a happy life too! Tinkerbell def. will, she was spoiled when she was fostered, and she'll def. be spoiled now.

Thank you david! It was always a bit annoying being reminded that they were my moms dogs and not mine. Now no one can say that about Tinkerbell! Haha. Do you still have Wolf?

you said it lily, it is hard to think that way but it is the reality, wolf has long passed away but i think he lived a full life and we loved each other so i think that wolf is now happy wherever he is and i hop that you will have a blast like i did, Tinkerbell would be awesome for you.

Congratulations! Tinkerbell has the best mom in the world now. And she has a forever home. I'm SO happy for you. And you have a very wise younger sister. I saw the picture and it's great. You both look so happy, just like you belong together. She is the cutest little dog. When I read what you wrote I started getting excited! I'm very into animal welfare and I'm so happy for Tinkerbell. And I'll be looking forward to those updates!

Thank you very much deazil And at our rescue we like to say she found her 'fur'ever home! Haha. I've already got some stories, but I'll have to spread them out. Do you have any pets?

We have cats too We currently have 3, and the most we've ever had at one time was 7. And that's not counting the dogs, birds, and other critters we had. My mom loves animals too, so I have been raised around animals all my life too. My mom even took care of a possum for a while, nursed it back to health...or was that a raccoon? Lol We have raised a few kitten litters and found them homes...we've had many dogs and cats and birds. It's wonderful growing up with animals. Uh oh! That's a stereotype! Not all dogs beg. Tinkerbell doesn't beg! Haha. She'll actually lay next to me when I eat, and she still doesn't beg. She's a very good dog, I'm lucky! Thank you!

I currently have 3 cats. The others got old and, well, passed on. I had 7 in the house I live in now. I've lived here for 22 years. But before that I had pets all my life. My mother loved animals so we had everything. I would like to get a dog but I wouldn't make a good dog mom. I can't stand when they beg for food. They look so sorrowful and hungry. I would give in and I don't think that's very healthy. And I'm not a good disciplinarian either. With cats it's the other way around. As soon as you realize they're in charge everything's okay. It would be nice to have a dog though. You and Tink are lucky to have found each other.

Welcome Tinkerbell!!! She is adorable, I am glad she has her forever home now, I know she is in good hands... See, this is where I would probably fail at fostering, I would end up trying to adopt all of them or have my heart broken when they are adopted by another.....I can't wait to hear more about her "quirks"

Oh I have no doubt you/I would miss the dog we had to give up...i guess a better way of putting it is, knowing they're going to a good home "softens the blow" Haha.

I think the only reason I "failed" at fostering is because the dog is Tinkerbell. I don't think I would have had another dog for 7 months, because they wouldn't have been as hard to adopt out as little Tinkerbell. And while it would be sad to see them go, knowing that they are going to a good home makes it better. But Tinkerbell really deserves to have a real home that is "fur"ever. So, why not the one she's been living in for 7 months!?

"knowing that they are going to a good home makes it better." I know I know...But a good example is Zoe, remember the white shepherd we had to give up? It was like we fostered her until someone came around who could take care of now..Now whenever I see anything near Zoe, doesn't have to be a white shepherd, but a black/brown shepherd or a white wolf, brings back bittersweet memories and how much I want her back, but know I couldn't afford the enzymes she needs..

Oh I'm soooo, soooo happy for the both of you!!! I always thought lil' Tink should stay with you and I'm glad your sister talked you into it. I was hoping someone would, lol! Maybe you should use Tink as your Avatar on your website when you get it or logo...I think she's your good luck charm. Congrats again and by the way, the photo is adorable and I love it! Good luck you two!!!

Oooh okay. I thought that might have been what you meant, but whenever I see the word "avtar" I always think of Mylot haha. I think that picture idea is a really cute idea. The nose to nose would be a cute image. I may have to use her picture somewhere on the web site, but I already have a logo I really really like for the rescue.

HaHaHa!, you're so funny. No, not here, what I was talking about is when you open your own animal rescue place I would imagine you'll have your own website, right? She'd be so cute as the first photo you see on the front page, or with a sideview photo of the two of you nose to nose. I can just picture that.

Hey Lily !Congrats for your new puppy ! I just take a look at the picture you posted and you two are gorgeus ! It`s nice to see you happy .I like your chose . Sometimes a dog understands` you better than a friend.I used to have a dog like yours` but saddly he was killed by a car .It was an awesome relationship between me and him .I talked to him when i was lonely ,and I was sure that he understood me .Sometimes he looked at me so attentively and gently licked my hands, then he used to rub his nose by my tailored clothes ,but i never said naughty threat to him ,because i was sure that I could buy some other clothes ,but never a friend like him !There are beautifull memories connected to him that I cherish . I wish all the best and take good care of your new dog !

Oh no that's so sad! I've been fortunate that I have never lost a dog like that. I have lost a cat in a very graphic manner, but I won't go into details. I'm sorry you lost your pup in such a way! I do understand the bond that dogs make with us, it's a great one! The term "unconditional love" is SO true when it comes to dogs! Have you gotten another dog for companionship? Thanks!

OH wow! I would love to have a dog that big. My family has adopted large breed dogs because my mom has always wanted a huge dog like that. But none of our dogs ever grew that big (our largest is our Lab/Great Dane mix and he's only 60 pounds).

Is he raises in both feets` he`s taller than me .But now he`s an awesome dog ,evethough he`s a little bit older .. i still love him .He`s my dog no matter what ^_^ !

You have 5 dogs, and Tinkerbell makes 5 in our house! Haha. All 5 of our dogs are rescues; 2 were strays, 2 came from a recue, and 1 was a present from my moms friend (they didn't want her because she wasn't "show material.") I will def. keep you guys updated!!!

Congrats. I think it's great that you've adopted her and if she was a dog that was scared of strangers but has bonded with you then even better. At least you know that she has a good home
• United States
26 Aug 12
Thank you Yeah she kind of went back and forth in her attitude when strangers approached her. She never wanted them to hold her, she would struggle (and very rarely snap at them) and she always looked so bug eyed when strangers would pet her, but it i was holding her she put up with it. Now, she never has to worry about it anymore!

How fun. Dogs are work but if you enjoy the daily activities with them they can really enrich your life and become a four legged best friend. I have had several in my life and have always enjoyed them. Now, I travel quite a bit so I have given up the idea of having another . Doesn't seem fair to the dog. You will have quite an adventure getting to know her. I am sure you will both be good for one another and she is lucky to have you.

It must have been tough to decide to give up dogs for now! But you'll have plenty of time for them when you're done with your travels! I wish I could travel! It's not really too difficult to take care of Tinkerbell, she doesn't eat a whole lot, she doesn't leave a lot for me to clean up...and she is self entertaining. I play with her when a lot, but when I don't she is fully capable of throwing her toys for herself and playing! It's really cute to watch! Thank you!

Thank you. I will take good care of her. A lot of people change an animal's name when they adopt them, but Tinkerbell already knows her name, and it fits her so well! Plus, I have a few nicknames for her: "Tinker Stinker" and "Stinker Bell" Haha. She knows her nicknames as well.
