As my sister had broken bone on the right finger. The first and third doctor had the same opinion. While the second doctor said she needed surgery. But the the other two said they would need to observed it first before they can say anything and think for now surgery is not needed. She has also a friend doctor but isn't specializing on bones. Anyway she just said that the second doctor may just want to operate her bone just to earn money. So we hope so that it would heal by itself with out the need of surgery.

I've had a broken toe before and just wore a splint on it, I've even broken fingers or hurt them. They are mostly healed by just taking special care and not moving it much while it is being healed. I'd tell her to just get a splint for it and watch it, go back to one of the doctors that didn't offer surgery.

Yes she has something on her hand right now. But she had made it herself only. But she was instructed on what position the finger should be. I don't know why the doctor didn't make a splint. So my sister has this self made splint

I am hoping that it will be healed by then and she won't need another splint or any kind of procedure either. Usually breaks or sprains like that take one or two weeks to heal, and that's it.

I just hope so that after a week it would be healed. It has been a week since she had the injury. Her second doctor had her finger pushed or moved inward toward the palm then had a bandage on it for a week. The third doctor said it was bandaged in the wrong position. So he changed the position and had it straight instead before having that popsicle stick is applied as the bandaged.

Yeah it's hard when we don't like the answer of the doctor and it's nice if we can get better opinion although sometimes it's quite confusing

Really it is too confusing because the doctors have different opinion to operate or not. Mot probably the doctor decides to operate the finger to have some money in his pocket but we cannot correctly make sure what is his aim.

That's unfortunate if the doctor lied and says she needs surgury just so they can earn money, it doesn't surprise me though. I've gotten second opinions from doctors a few times because I wasn't comfortable with who I dealt with the first time, I suppose that in this situation she could just go with her gut or keep getting opinions and see what the most common answer is and go with that.

I think it is better to seek the opinion of a another good bone specialist, make sure that he is a good experienced person. Care you fingers at you best and don't try to take any calculated risks.
