I have heard people mention PTC for earning money! what is it?

So I have read a lot of posts and comments where people have discussed PTC as a method of earning money on line. This would be great if I knew what PTC stands for or the method of making money. I am always open to new ways of making money - even small amounts. I live in a country where the exchange rate is pretty good, so earning dollars goes a bit further once I exchange into the local currency. I also work volunteer so any extra money is always well received.
