For any anime/manga enthusiasts, I am curious to know your best and worst experiences at anime conventions. For me, my best experiences were taking pictures of cosplayers and seeing the skit contests. In terms of worst experiences, being "glomped" by another individual; it was my most awkward experience at a convention because they mistook me as someone else. Although this happened at Otakon, I still recommend people that have not been to this convention. For experiences, you can mention a specific experience or general experience. The purpose of this discussion is to help both avid attendees of anime conventions and the new attendees anime conventions.

When I saw a Fat Lady Cosplaying Sailormoon, Then I saw another Fat Lady cosplaying Chun-li of Street Fighter, Then the ultimate childhood ruining moment, I saw a very ugly group of men cosplaying bubble gum crisis. They scarred me for life with those visual tortures. Then I saw a group of men who are lolicons, they were gross, why the heck they find little girls sexy.

Well, each person's anime convention experience is different. I have been to some number of conventions and have seen my fair share of weird things. While I am sorry to hear about your traumatic experience with cosplayers, I hope this has not prevented you from wanting to go to other anime conventions in the future. For anime conventions, there is a lot of different types of 'otaku', which comes in all shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, there are people who have strange interests, which is part of the anime culture. In my experience, it is best to find yourself some friends who share similar taste in certain types of anime. Even if you witness something not to your liking, having friends with you at conventions will often distract you from focusing on those awkward moments. Thanks for your comment, CaptAlbertWhisker.

dont worry it wont stop me, I am trying to build muscle because I will cosplay next year. I will have to look Good in my costumes. I am considering to cosplay a videogame villain but I also consider a certain anime villain. I use tobe very active in Anime conventions during my teens.

I have been attending anime and video game conventions since 2008 and most have been very pleasant and have run smoothly having met some awesome anime voice actors such as Tiffany Grant, Veronica Taylor and Laura Bailey and having stuff signed by them which were some of the best experiences of my life! Though in terms of negative experiences I have maybe 3 times. Firstly I sell my artwork at artists alley at conventions which helps the cost of getting there, paying for food, travel and accommodation. However anyone else who has done a stall at an artists alley will also know that you cannot leave very often and twice I have accumulated a stalker whom tried to sexually assault me, I am not talking about glomping either that I don't mind providing I am given a little warning and my boobs aren't felt up. This man grabbed me from behind and tried to french kiss me on the lips even though I had made it clear I had a boy friend and even sat beside my friends well built guy friend for protection, but this didnt stop him, needless to say I was frightened to say the least. Secondly I was banned from selling at an artists alley for no apparent reason and was sent a very inconsiderate email from one of the convention staff, I went to the convention anyway as I wanted to get my stuff signed such as DVDs etc. I was chatting away to staff there on the sunday and they were all like "so how are the sales going?" I was like "you didnt give me a table this year?" and they were like "oh...." It turns out they mixed me up with someone who was selling counterfeit goods despite the fact I make phone charms and they did photo copied copyrighted posters. I find this a little inexcusable considering I sent them my website link and they should have been able to tell the difference. I was very annoyed that I was accused of such a crime.
