How is your area handling this new tropical storm/hurricane - Isaac?

The news has been talking about a tropical storm 24/7 and now they are saying it is now turning into a true hurricane with an eye of 200 miles wide. Here in Alabama we had sunny skies and very warm weather. Then out of the blue the sky opened up, the rain came down in buckets, thunder cracked as if trees were snapping it was so loud and sharp and the wind starting kicking up. We also lost electricity for a few hours. Then just as fast it came in it went out. The storm stopped and it became sunny and warm again. But it isn't over yet, the news says it won't be at its peak until midnight tonight. Are you in an area that this storm is going to hit? Are you prepared to safe-keep your home and family? Will you have to evacuate like those living in New Orleans? Wishing everyone the best and a safe journey through this storm and sending prayers and good wishes everyone stays safe and it won't cause too much damage.

We don't get hurricanes here in Montreal, nor do we get earthquakes, but sometimes we do get very strong winds.

You are very lucky in that way, these storms are so destructive in some areas. Well it seems so far we are out of the woods here. The night was calm. Haven't put the news on yet but will be to see how everyone is holding out in Miss. and La. But your winters are something else. Extreme cold and lots of snow being that far North.

in terms of winters yes of course it is cold, but not extreme, and many winters it hardly snows at all, remember we are just 90 miles north of NY State

its total fear and worry when any news comes of hurricanes because i still have grandkids in florida. when i lived there we had a couple of really scarey ones close by. i was sure glad to get out of it all. i dont like the dry heat here in AZ but at least its not killing me.

It is scary beyond what words can express and worry about loved ones who are scattered about the county. I loved living in AZ - the dry heat was wonderful. A whole lot better than 80-100 humidity every day like it is in the Gulf states. Hope and pray your Grandchildren will be fine where they are and the storm will go out to sea and keep everyone safe.
