Above Wales. Have you heard about this? I think its pretty interesting. I like to watch the night sky, even if I don't get out like I used to. http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/news/s/1587450_hundreds-witness-meteor-shooting-across-skies-of-greater-manchester So, my friends in the U.K., did you get to see this?

Oh how I wish I could have seen that! I love to watch the night skies, more so when I'm camping because the sky is much clearer in the country than the city of course. I use to watch it all the time and see many strange things. It was so much fun. I even saw something (along with tons of other people) on July 4th a few years ago. It was really weird and there was no explanation for it, even from the papers from what I understand. When I was little I use to go outside with my father and his binoculars to watch the Sputnik go by. Those were the fun days.

Ah, Sputnik... My dad made a trash burner from a metal barrel. He put a chimney on it, and a pointy hat type cover on the chimney, and named the whole thing Sputnik. Those were the days when people burnt a lot of their trash.

I remember burning all the trash and in fact, I was thinking about it the other day and how they stopped everyone from doing that. So many people had incinerators too in their houses and then they were outlawed because they polluted the air. Strange how we think of things from days past. I do remember them fondly and it seemed so much more peaceful than today. I love what your dad did, sounds sooo funny. I wish I could have seen it because I'm sure I would have loved it!

I remember watching satellites, but not with my Dad, mostly by myself when I was younger, and then with Maggiepie when we were roommates. I remember when they burned trash at the schools, and I hated trash burning days, especially when it was still because the ash came floating down. It was almost always hot those days too so we had the windows open.

I live in Texas, a long way from the U.K. but I'd've loved to see it.

Nope, haven't heard about it. Seems odd that something as small as a golf ball would cause a sonic boom.

anything that breaks the sound barrier creates a sonic boom... it just matters where you are that you can hear it

I would too, except leaning my head back to watch the sky is hard on my neck and I can't get off the ground anymore... oh, and then there are the bugs...

I heard about a lady who got hit in her leg, and another family who's car was struck, but I guess if I have to go, getting hit by an asteroid works for me... talk about coming out of the blue!
