Hi Friends I am very excited tonight because I just got confirmation that I have an interview in New York with the Food Network to be on the show "Chopped"! I had applied quite a long time ago and just figured that they were not interested in my resume. Well, much to my surprise and delight, I received the phone call today from a producer asking me if I would like to come and test for the show. WHAT?? Ah, ya think? OMG, I'm so nervous and excited and a little overwhelmed. For those not familiar with the show, it's a cooking competition against 3 other chefs. They give you a basket of "mystery" ingredients and you have to come up with a dish in the appetizer, main course and dessert categories. You have no idea of what is in the basket and it definitely shows who can cook and who cant, chef or not! I don't know what level of chefs I will be up against and to say I'm scared to death is an understatement. Of course, this all depends on whether or not they pick me at the interview. The winner walks with 10 thousand dollars and boy or boy could I use that. It would be a shot in the arm that could do wonders for me and my upcoming plans. They are signing for 2013 shows so it's going to be awhile before it airs..Time will tell, I have lots of time to practice. This is a really big deal to me and something that would look great on my resume!

What a great opportunity for a trip to nyc! Do bring back some of those Sabrett Hot Dogs, {or is it Frankfurters?} the kind they sell from the orange multi-colored push-carts in central park. Hope to see you on TV !

Whats up Habibibi...(love that name, its funny) Anyway, I know this response is from like months and months ago but I've been on the boat all winter, cooking and worked pretty much straight through with no breaks. I'm done now as the season here in Ft Lauderdale and the Caribbean is just about over. I'm tired and ready to relax and am so looking forward to being able to sleep past 3am and hang out online and watch tv...the things we take for granted are really appreciated when you live on a boat..trust me..Anyway, NYC was a blast. I did the show but am not telling anyone as to the result. It will air in early Feb, next year. It was an experience I will never forget. After the taping, we went into the city and spent 4 days in Manhatten..There is no better city but you need mega money to do it right. The prices of everything there are ridiculous. I.E. coffee and donut, 9.00 I could go on and on but I think everyone knows about NY..Great place to live if you are wealthy..How's all with you?

Eeeeeee!!! No way!!! Seriously??? I am totally so excited for you!!!!!! Unfortunately I only have basic cable, but if this works out, please let me know, I will find a neighbor who can tape it for me.... Now, we both need to take a deep breath and relax..You will do fine, I know you, you are an awesome chef, (well I never actually tried your cooking, but you have helped me tremendously over the years), and I am sure whatever happens, just being in the spotlight will give your career a huge boost... Keep me updated, I DO NOT want to miss the show when you are there...

Hi Carm Thanks for the well wishes. I still can't believe I got picked, it's like a dream that I keep thinking I will wake up from..Do not worry about missing the show. Even if you don't see the actual show, my Mom will have 1.7 million copies on DVD, so I will be able to send you one.It is a very tough competition and most definitely separates the men from the boys, to coin a phrase. There is really no way to prepare either because you have no clue what 5 ingredients will be in the basket. I have always done my best work under pressure however, so hopefully my track record will help me prevail! Thanks again Carm..you're a good friend! J

Oh, even better, to have it on DVD, since we only have one video player now, they are becoming obsolete and with a DVD, I can play it on my laptop...Yes, please put my name in for a copy, I'll even pay you for it...I am totally excited for you and even if you don't win, (I really don't know the show, I assuming there is a winner???), whatever you make will be good and I get to see my friend show off her skills...

Hi romzee...Don't you love people who post a response 7 months after you respond to them...sorry, but I've been working on the boat all winter and do not think I spend 2 hours online in 6 months..Did the show but am not revealing the outcome. It got pushed out to Feb, 2014 which is when it will air. The Food Network is way behind on lots of shows, not just Chopped and I'm really not sure why..The whole food network experience was really cool. It's quite the place and when you watch it on tv all the time like I do, it's really interesting to go there and actually how it is and how it all works. I'd love to work there..So, stay tuned my friend, I will post right before it airs so that my myLot friends can see me on TV. It was an outstanding experience that I was very lucky to have...Hope all is well with you.
